Spaces & Accommodation
Centred around a magnificent modern straw bale roundhouse, accommodation is provided in two gorgeous yurts. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the log cabin with a small dining area plus a shower room/toilet and another smaller log cabin kitchenette with a compost loo and shower.
The roundhouse will very comfortably seat 20-25 people or to look at it another way, there's space for 8-10 yogis. Up to 6 guests can sleep in the roundhouse, whilst the yurts will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests between them.
Seats and fire bowls next to each yurt and a main central firepit near the roundhouse provide further communal spaces. The roundhouse and yurts are heated with wood burning stoves.
We may be 'off grid', but in terms of facilities you wouldn't know it! Plenty of hot water, a power shower, electricity in all the spaces and WiFi if required.View Spaces and Accommodation

What a special place this is! It was in exactly the location we were after for the Welsh leg of our road trip and the idea of a remote yurt certainly did appeal! The yurt was super comfortable and kept us cosy during some heavy rain. The view from the deck when the sun came out was fantastic. Kitchen cabin had everything we needed as well. Shayn & Nathan were great hosts and have created such a great place to stay. Totally recommend for anyone wanting something a little off the beaten track and different! I hope to get back... read more - 30 Jul 2018Jonathan
What a top place! We’ve had a quick family break (2 adults, 3 kids age 9,10,13) and we’ve loved every minute of Yurt life! The Yurt itself is fantastic and a great space. Brilliantly decorated, a cosy warm stove and outside area for fires, seating. The facilities are all thoughtfully done with attention paid to being self sufficient as you are off grid. You wouldn’t know this though as you have all you need. The area itself is off the beaten track and you need to drive to access shops, eating etc but there is also a well equipped kitchen... read more - 28 Apr 2019Lynn-Amanda Brown
This is such a beautiful place, created with love and held by Shayne and Nathan. I felt so warmly welcomed and also inspired by their whole vision of living in harmony with nature, using only natural, sustainable resources... They prove what can be achieved...a wonderful place to be. - 09 May 2018
One of the rare places you stumble across on Airbnb, get super excited about, and it lives up to and even surpasses expectations! A beautiful place in a magical location!!
Nathan and Shayne were both lovely, welcoming and attentive hosts, we had everything we needed and our stay was not only a breeze but also very relaxing and chilled!!
I could easily return time and time again! And hopefully will!
Thanks a bunch and see you soon - 21 Oct 2018

Delight-filling Paradise on Earth.... Ty Mam Mawr - House of The Great Mother, has clearly been created with great love and vision by Nathan and Shayne. A beautiful and beautifully constructed sacred retreat centre... built to serve, inspire, evolve and grow, far into the future.
Mother Nature's Blessings on this place are palpable.
Only just completed, the roundhouse and surrounding yurts and cabins already feel like sacred community... hosted by the warmth and dynamic creativity of Shayne, Nathan and their dogs, chickens and cats.
I was lucky enough to attended Ty Mam Mawr's first retreat .... it... read more - 08 Sep 2017Sophie
Exceeded all expectations, we thoroughly enjoyed every bit of our stay - even despite there being a storm. The yurt was so lovely, cosy and super clean - the stove heats it up really well and we stayed warm and snug all night long. The kitchen and bathroom also really clean, great hot shower and everything was provided that you’d need for an enjoyable break away in the countryside.
We were just gutted the weather was rubbish and we didn’t get to enjoy the hammocks and outdoor fire pit - we’ll have to come back!! Not that we needed an... read more - 03 Mar 2019Alexandra
We arrived and were greeted by Nathan who was very welcoming. The location was amazing with great views of the mountains. The yurt was so cosy and clean with beautiful furniture and rugs. We were allowed to take our dog lily who had a lovely holiday, we drove to the beach, went to snowdon and the nearby villages. We would definitely recommend this holiday to anyone who wants to escape and relax! Hope to go back in the future! - 01 Jul 2017
It’s a very relaxing retreat but with all the modern conveniences (WiFi, power sockets, power shower, gas hob and oven) while still being able to use renewable energy. They’ve honestly thought of everything. The thought and care shines through in the little touches. You won’t be disappointed. - 22 Jul 2018
We loved everything about our stay: the yurt was magical, the location peaceful and Nathan was lovely and very helpful throughout. Waking up every day to pheasants and chickens running around was a highlight! We came back refreshed from a fantastic few days in nature despite having more rainy weather than we’d expected. - 05 Mar 2019Niki
Enchanting, exhilarating, like staying in a living painting. The location is stunning 400m up hugged by the valley & pines. The yurt was a snug Bohemian heaven. All you could want ‘off the grid’! Very impressive amenities, water from the spring, electricity from the solar panels.... Very effective log burners. Easy & accessible to get there. As for the hosts, just beautiful people. All expectations exceeded!! I will be back! - 17 Nov 2019Steve
A very peaceful and secluded place that is drivable to local amenities - but you may as well just take what you need and chill. We were impressed that it had internet facilities and the communal shower is a good one. The hosts are really lovely people and very welcoming. We've never stayed in a yurt before but we were happy with our stay and will look at yurts again in the future. The scenery is amazing. - 27 May 2018

We had a wonderful weekend away is this fabulous yurt. The location is perfect and simply peaceful. Nathan was a brilliant host. Excellent communication and the yurt was exactly as advertised. The log fire ensured we were cosy at night. Sitting out on the deck in the evening is just tranquil; the stars are so bright. We did lots of walking around the local area. Thanks for the tips and the use of your map. We will certainly recommend to friends and will be back ourselves sometime soon. Thanks for a fabulous weekend break. A slice of paradise I have stayed here numerous times now hosting a digital detox, Return to Nature retreat. The setting is the PERFECT spot for finding the space to go within, de-stress and immerse in the beauty of nature. It feels like coming back home every time I return and am welcomed by Shayne and Nathan with such warmth. They have poured live into this space and you can feel that as soon as you arrive. I cannot reccomend a stay here more! - 04 May 2021Lesley
Most relaxing break ever, we will be back. Shared kitchen is excellent and shower/toilet spotless.
Loved the yurt, warm, cosy and comfy on the frosty cold first night.
Lucky to get a sunny Saturday in Wales and I just wanted to sit and swing in the hammock chair :)
Fell in love with the chucks too! I felt right at home in this beautiful spot. The outdoor spaces are excellent.
Lovely host nathan made us feel most welcome - 07 Apr 2019
If you're looking for a unique experience in a beautiful, secluded location this is it. Shayne and Nathan are warm and extremely accommodating hosts. They are very conscientious and much thought has been put into their yurts. Whatever the season, you'll love this place and be well looked after. - 28 Oct 2017
What a wonderful place! When we arrived in Cynwyd we were struggling with baggage and so Nathan very kindly offered to pick us up and take us to the yurts. It was a nice drive up to the yurts and we were greeted with the freshest air I’ve ever tasted.. Nathan showed us around the place and explained everything perfectly, we had nothing to really ask him (other than when we realised we don’t really know how fires work). We stayed in the smaller yurt and it was perfect for the two of us, it heated up really quickly and... read more - 20 Dec 2019Chelsea
The location is unreal, great views when and close to all the areas we wanted to see. The bed was comfy and cosy and the yurt also had enough room inside to socialise and chill. Modern shower, toilet and sink in the bathroom. Hosts were friendly and answered any questions we had quickly. Would love to come back in the summer to enjoy again x - 10 Feb 2019

What a (re)treat!! I had the most incredible stay at Ty Mam Mawr – Shayne and Nathan were such warm and generous hosts. A group of us booked out the site for a meditation retreat and it was the perfect setting to allow for such work to take place. Gorgeous scenery, beautiful, cosy yurts to stay in, a nearby waterfall that we walked down to and swam in! Adorable friendly pets – dogs and chickens! – that roamed around, sweetly interacting with us. And the site is clearly a labour of love – these stunning, eco-friendly structures. Oh and I mustn’t forget Shayne’s... read more - 30 Apr 2021Melissa
Gorgeous yurt and space. All very chilled and bed was so comfy. Wonderful waking up to the Berwyn forest and happily swinging in the hammock!! The small log burner off so much heat- which was lovely and would be so cosy in winter. Shayne and Nathan were very friendly and the chickens and dogs were a lovely addition! - 22 Jul 2018
Shayne and Nathan were excellent hosts. They kept in constant communication before our trip and were very understanding when our plans had to change by a day. The yurt was cosy and unique and the surrounding landscape was fantastic to take-in in the morning with a cup of coffee! Nathan gave us plenty of sight-seeing recommendations in the area, but unfortunately, we were not there long enough to really explore. Will definitely be staying here again! - 23 Mar 2018Damian
It's a set in a beautiful area of Wales, remote but not too far away from key places to visit. Feels like you are away from it all there. Weather was bad during our stay, but still got to see thousands of stars one night. The big yurt can hold more people too, so great for a big family, and very cosy with the fire going x - 28 Aug 2020
We had a lovely stay Shayne and Nathan’s Yurt! Even in October when it was wet and windy we could not have been warmer by the log fire!
There are plenty of amenities to make your stay comfortable, like a hot shower, and a stove/sink area right outside your door, along with the dedicated kitchen area.
There are beautiful views, lots of wildlife to see (and hear), and lovely areas of woodland to explore.
There are a bunch of great places to visit such as local NT properties, the steam engine that goes through Corwen, and cafes and pubs. Just make sure... read more - 17 Oct 2019Calley
Nathan & Shayne were warm, welcoming hosts and their yurt on the forest is just magical! They provided me with all the info I needed before my stay and helped me with any questions that I had. The yurt and the wood cabin for cooking had all the essentials you would need when 'glamping' and the location itself is so serene and beautiful, I enjoyed trying out all the great walks on offer! The yurt experience is something everyone should try at least once - warming up next to the traditional wood burning stove was great! The setting is just... read more - 02 Oct 2020John
Thank you for our fantastic "yurting" experience off grid. It was our first time in a yurt and it exceeded our expectations. Set in a fantastic location all the facilities were clean warm and beautifully decorated and the yurt was cosy. We enjoyed local country walks and the tranquillity. - 12 Mar 2019
