Spaces & Accommodation
Centred around a magnificent modern straw bale roundhouse, accommodation is provided in two gorgeous yurts. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the log cabin with a small dining area plus a shower room/toilet and another smaller log cabin kitchenette with a compost loo and shower.
The roundhouse will very comfortably seat 20-25 people or to look at it another way, there's space for 8-10 yogis. Up to 6 guests can sleep in the roundhouse, whilst the yurts will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests between them.
Seats and fire bowls next to each yurt and a main central firepit near the roundhouse provide further communal spaces. The roundhouse and yurts are heated with wood burning stoves.
We may be 'off grid', but in terms of facilities you wouldn't know it! Plenty of hot water, a power shower, electricity in all the spaces and WiFi if required.View Spaces and Accommodation

Nathan and Shayne were such lovely hosts, we had a very peaceful and relaxing holiday in Cynwyd. We stayed for a week with our new baby and dog and we had everything we needed right on our doorstep. Stunning views, lovely walks and a gorgeous yurt to return to for cosy evenings and rainy days. Shayne and Nathan couldn’t have been more hospitable and the kitchenette was well stocked with everything we needed. We would love to go back one day, it was the perfect holiday for our new family. - 07 Sep 2020Jessica
This was our first experience staying in a yurt and it was amazing! The Yurt was absolutely stunning, with a beautifully decorated interior, cozy wood burner and lots of quirky cushions and dream catchers.
The location was also very beautiful. We felt very close to nature and loved walking around the grounds. It was snowing during our stay so seemed even more magical! Rich, who was looking after the place, asked if we wanted to stay a bit longer to avoid driving in the snow. Unfortunately we couldn’t but it was a very kind offer!

An amazing place to stay with plenty of walking routes nearby. Luckily the weather wasn't too cold for a January visit but the fire made the yurt very cosy for the evenings. Worth knowing that the kitchen is well stocked with utensils so great if you are wanting to cook from scratch. We would definitely recommend staying here if you're after a peaceful getaway! - 26 Jan 2020Georgina
Shayne and Nathan's yurt is in a stunning location, so peaceful and quiet, a real treat to have no road noise! The hosts are on hand, but totally respectful of our privacy, we felt like we had our very own bit of Welsh mountain. The yurt , cabin and bathroom were all spotless and really well equipped, it was really easy to cook tasty meals both in the kitchen and on the fire outside. Loved it and hope to be back, thank you! - 18 Sep 2020

Visiting here for a retreat was very nourishing on many levels. The landscape was idyllic and captivating with some beautiful walks in nature nearby (and swims for those that dared!). Shayne and Nathan were excellent hosts who made the stay very comfortable and the roundhouse was a very peaceful and warm place to meditate. The food served was delicious and we ended up staying an extra day as we liked the place so much. Will definitely visit again! - 13 Jun 2018Natalia
We loved everything about our stay: the yurt was magical, the location peaceful and Nathan was lovely and very helpful throughout. Waking up every day to pheasants and chickens running around was a highlight! We came back refreshed from a fantastic few days in nature despite having more rainy weather than we’d expected. - 05 Mar 2019Justine
We had a fantastic stay in the yurt, and can’t wait to return! Stunning, peaceful location on the edge of the forest, with waterfalls and hiking paths on your doorstep. The facilities are outstanding: a very well-equipped kitchen, delightful hot shower, wifi, and fire pits. Shayne was a warm host, giving us plenty of local advice. Thank you! - 26 Aug 2019
It's a set in a beautiful area of Wales, remote but not too far away from key places to visit. Feels like you are away from it all there. Weather was bad during our stay, but still got to see thousands of stars one night. The big yurt can hold more people too, so great for a big family, and very cosy with the fire going x - 28 Aug 2020
Myself and my 3 friends spent a weekend here, we all had an amazing time!! I would definitely recommend 2/3 night minimum as it is off grid and theres a lot to see and do around the area but you’ll need that bit more time as you have to travel quite a bit to get to places. Kitchen and shower facilities were superb. Breathtaking views and location, both hosts very happy to help. I would recommend speaking to the hosts on how to get there prior your journey, just as air bnb directions sent us a little wrong . Definitely recommended!! - 23 Sep 2018
If you're looking for a unique experience in a beautiful, secluded location this is it. Shayne and Nathan are warm and extremely accommodating hosts. They are very conscientious and much thought has been put into their yurts. Whatever the season, you'll love this place and be well looked after. - 28 Oct 2017Tamsin
Brilliant trip. The yurt was beautiful and cosy. Even though it rained for most of our trip we were determined to go out walking, but we were able to come back and cosy up to the indoor wood burner, listening to the rain on the roof. On a clear night we sat out by the outdoor fire pit enjoying the stars. The kitchen had everything we needed. The surrounding area is stunning too.
Nathan met us on arrival to show us around, he was very welcoming and friendly. Whenever we needed anything we just sent him a quick message and he... read more - 23 May 2021
We had a wonderful relaxing getaway here. The yurt is a beautiful space, romantic, comfortable and cosy. It's very quiet and the stars were amazing! We enjoyed walking in the Berwyn mountains and swimming/kayaking on Lake Bala.
Nathan was very welcoming and helpful, telling us about local walks and lending us a map.
The kitchen is well equipped and it's handy having a private loo right next to the yurt. I loved it here and wished we were staying longer. - 05 Sep 2018

I just held a breathwork and shamanic healing retreat at Ty Mam Mawr and it was a beautiful experience beginning to end. This review almost seems like I'm cheating writing a good review for two extremely good friends, that's how well we were welcomed and the depth of our connection to Shayne and Nathan. We had an amazing stay in Shayne and Nathan’s Mongolian yurt. It was beautiful and so cosy in the evening with the fire lit. We couldn’t have needed anything more as the set up is lovely with great cooking cabin and toilet and showers. A very cool place to stay and we can’t wait to come back again! - 04 Apr 2018
My partner and I spent 3 nights in Shayne and Nathan’s yurt, location was amazing, great to sit outside on the hammock chairs and listen to the birds. The yurt was cosy just such a great place to stay. My partner was ill one of the days and the hosts made sure he was ok which was really appreciated. dogs and chickens were also very friendly! Loved our stay. - 26 Jun 2019
Excellent hosts - Nathan had great communication and made check-in super easy. The yurt was very cosy and even when it was only 5 degrees outside, the inside was so warm (after a couple of minutes with a log on the fire!) Will recommend to anyone looking for a short stay in the North Wales mountains. - 10 May 2019
The yurt was an amazing weekend break away! Perfect opportunity to relax and explore some of the beautiful welsh countryside! The yurt itself was very nicely decorated and the log burner kept us nice and toasty at night. Nathan was a great host and gave us lots of tips of where to go walking and was very welcoming. Overall a great experience and we will hopefully get chance to go back at some point in the future! :) - 18 Nov 2018
Wow! What a wonderful place to stay! The perfect place to get away from it all, chill and just enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Beautiful location and still convenient for other towns. Would definitely recommend the walk to Liberty Hall from the yurt and being around for sunset, also using the fire pit and star gazing at night. We'll certainly be back in future! Great, friendly and helpful hosts too xxx - 19 Sep 2019Phoebe
We loved staying in the Yurt it was a really unique experience! It is in a beautiful location, the bed is comfy, there’s a wonderful outdoor area with a cover/fire/bbq, the kitchen and toilet are clean and had every thing we needed. We especially loved the friendly chicken that came to visit. Would definitely recommend! - 18 May 2021
What a lovely little retreat. We stayed here with our young children and pet pooch. We all loved it! Nathan greeted us and showed us around, then a chicken came by to say hi, and before long the neighbouring cows introduced themselves.
The yurt was clean and gave off good chilled vibes, we had use of a private outdoor space to have a fire and bbq with a spectacular view of the Welsh hills. If we ever needed help Nathan was more than willing to help. Definitely recommend to anyone that is looking for a break away fortune usual daily grind.... read more - 27 May 2021Niki
Enchanting, exhilarating, like staying in a living painting. The location is stunning 400m up hugged by the valley & pines. The yurt was a snug Bohemian heaven. All you could want ‘off the grid’! Very impressive amenities, water from the spring, electricity from the solar panels.... Very effective log burners. Easy & accessible to get there. As for the hosts, just beautiful people. All expectations exceeded!! I will be back! - 17 Nov 2019
