Spaces & Accommodation
Centred around a magnificent modern straw bale roundhouse, accommodation is provided in two gorgeous yurts. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the log cabin with a small dining area plus a shower room/toilet and another smaller log cabin kitchenette with a compost loo and shower.
The roundhouse will very comfortably seat 20-25 people or to look at it another way, there's space for 8-10 yogis. Up to 6 guests can sleep in the roundhouse, whilst the yurts will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests between them.
Seats and fire bowls next to each yurt and a main central firepit near the roundhouse provide further communal spaces. The roundhouse and yurts are heated with wood burning stoves.
We may be 'off grid', but in terms of facilities you wouldn't know it! Plenty of hot water, a power shower, electricity in all the spaces and WiFi if required.View Spaces and Accommodation
Stunning location, wonderful hosts, sacred and beautiful energy. This has to be on you bucket list for places to escape too x

I just held a breathwork and shamanic healing retreat at Ty Mam Mawr and it was a beautiful experience beginning to end. This review almost seems like I'm cheating writing…

Great accommodation, very clean and had all kitchen equipment necessary! The yurt was lovely to stay in and really loved the rural location! The hosts never bothered us and gave us our privacy which was great. The bathroom and kitchen were as clean as the yurt which is rare when experiencing rural living! Everything was exactly as expected and we loved every minute of it would defiantly recommend if you like the outdoors of camping but prefer a slightly more (glamping) approach!
I only suggest that when you book and are on route to the location.. do not use the... read more - 05 Jun 2019Kimberley
This was mine and my husbands first experience with Airbnb and we were not disappointed. We booked this beautiful yurt to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and we were not let down. It is absolutely beautiful in a stunning location. Very welcoming and always on hand when needed. Great recommendations on where to go. We had some fantastic walks with our dog and built some great memories. Highly recommend coming to stay here. - 10 Jun 2019

What an idyllic, special place Ty Mam Mawr is! The perfect place to retreat, to unwind and reconnect with nature and the land. Shayne and Nathan are the most hospitable, generous and authentic people I know and pour their love into everything they offer here. The yurts, cabins and roundhouse are stunning and so relaxing. You are truly in the heart of Welsh nature and it is so good for the soul! Highly recommend. Thank you for creating this amazing off grid eco retreat haven Shayne and Nathan. XXX - 09 May 2018
Just back from a fabulous three day break in the Welsh mountains at one of the most unique airbnb properties we have ever stayed in.
The location was excellent, being conveniently placed to access most of North Wales abd the yurt was everything that we expected, and yes, while we were in fact living off the grid, Shayne and Nathan made sure that the whole experience was extremely comfortable with plenty of hot showers and great kitchen facilities (and even wifi if you just have to keep in touch with the outside world but much better to leave technology... read more - 24 Feb 2019
Really fantastic place, very peaceful with beautiful views. Yurt was truly cosy, once the fire got going it was lovely and toasty despite being 1 degree outside. Hosts were super hospitable even when we got very very lost! Great facilities for cooking, eating and socialising. Very friendly dogs even came to say hello which was a lovely surprise! Already planning on coming back soon! - 30 Nov 2018Mike
Wonderful part of the country. Drive through Snowdonia to the west coast while you're there. Great for recharging and spending quality time with loved ones. Can get chilly in the night this time of year so make sure you've always got wood for the log burner.
Shayne & Nathan are very welcoming and were quick to respond to any questions. - 01 Nov 2019
What a find! Right in the middle of the mountains at Cynwyd with amazing views over the valleys. We only booked for one night en route to Anglesey and wished we had stayed longer. Total peace & quiet surrounded by wildlife and stunning scenery. It was the first time we stayed in a yurt and we would definitely do it again (if you're not a fan of camping in a tent in the height of summer - which I'm not - this is perfect). In the evening, we sat on the deck in the lovely hammock seats enjoying a glass... read more - 15 Jul 2019Oliver
This was my partner and I’s second trip to this yurt as we loved it so much the first time. It is wonderfully secluded, however still close enough to all the things that you may need. With it being a stones throw from all of the fantastic walks and activities that Snowdonia has to offer you will never be short of things to do.
Shayne and Nathan are lovely people and great hosts, always on hand to help out if needed or just for good chats.
With the extra capacity and great kitchen/shower room now on offer I would happily recommend to... read more - 17 Mar 2018
If you are looking for something a bit different then the Yurt is great. Warm, cosy and good for stargazing in the evenings. Make sure you put the full address in as only the postcode takes you to a dead end at the end of the road. Nathan met us to check in and show us around, he was helpful and recommended a few local places to find food. The Yurt gets very toasty andalthough the supplied wood only lasted one night, the DIY shop in Corwen sells wood and kindling quite cheap so it wasn't an issue. The... read more - 28 Mar 2019Ellie
After reading all the amazing review's on Nathan and Shaynes place we were super excited for our little break away, all expectations were met and exceeded. A beautiful space and such welcoming friendly hosts, you will not be disappointed. The yurt was cosy, clean and exactly as decipted on the photographs we viewed beforehand. There is a well equipped kitchen and fitted bathroom, though we did all our cooking on an open fire under the stars- absolute bliss. Llangollen is a beautiful town just 20 minutes drive away, we would recommend there for a day out! Though the ground and... read more - 15 Feb 2019Gemma
We stayed in the bigger yert, and didnt use the log cabin at all expect for rubbish, as we wanted to experience off the grid living as much as possible. We cooked on the fire pit and heated food up in the stove. To do this you have to take your own cooking equipment. I'd also take an ex so you can go get your own logs. If you want to experience off the grid living but still want a bed and hot shower this place will defo give you that. Lovely views, it's quite privet, think we bumbed... read more - 03 Jun 2019
This place is just gorgeous, despite the weather we had an amazing time, the yurts are so warm with the log burner going so you don't get cold and the sound of the rain when you're all cosy and warm inside is so relaxing they have all amenities needed, the shower was lovely and hot, the kitchen was well kitted out with everything you need, worth noting they don't have a microwave but we didn't need one anyway so all good for us.

Had an amazing time, yurt was beautiful and in a gorgeous location. Kitchen and bathroom facilities we’re spot on and very clean. Nathan and Shayne were just a message away if we needed anything.
Had lots of fun playing fetch with the owner’s dogs. Lots of hiking routes around the area. Perfect to get away from it all for a few days. Would recommend to anyone wanting a bit of piece and quiet in the countryside. Will definitely be booking again :) - 02 Apr 2019
We spent a great night in Nathan and Shayne's yurt. It was lovely and cosy with the woodburner on and there was plenty room for 5 of us.
It is in a great setting, the kids loved playing with Ruby the dog and we had a lovely walk in the forest before leaving.
Would love to visit again. - 03 Apr 2018Zoe
We really enjoyed our time in the yurt. All of the facilities were spotlessly clean and the location is excellent. Even in the middle of winter the yurt was warm and cosy thanks to the wood burning stove.
The communal kitchen and bathroom were well equipped with everything we needed. The outdoor kitchenette and composting loo were really handy too. We would recommend the yurt to anyone and would definitely visit again. - 21 Jan 2019
Wow, what a lovely 4 days we have had at this beautiful yurt. Nathan and Shayne are great hosts very warm and friendly with lots of advice on local walks to hand. The yurt it’s self is truly amazing and it has its own little garden area with fire pit/bbq, chairs and table. The perfect place to come back to chill after a nice long walk and toast some marshmallows which went down a treat with our 6 year old son. I really can’t rate this pace enough. We are a family of 3 with a black Labrador and let... read more - 29 Aug 2019
We arrived and were greeted by Nathan who was very welcoming. The location was amazing with great views of the mountains. The yurt was so cosy and clean with beautiful furniture and rugs. We were allowed to take our dog lily who had a lovely holiday, we drove to the beach, went to snowdon and the nearby villages. We would definitely recommend this holiday to anyone who wants to escape and relax! Hope to go back in the future! - 01 Jul 2017Liz
what an amazing place. we are a group of young at heart mature ladies, who were in the area for an out door swimming event. we are always looking something different but value for money. we defiantly found this at Shayne and Nathan's place.
The yurt is amazing and very true to the photos. It is spacious, well equipped and warm. we lit the wood burner but then had to open the door to cool us down. ( what a waste)
It was had amazing natural light from the window in the centre of the roof.

Very quiet and peaceful holiday which was perfect for us and our dog. Great location with many walks close by, to get further afield into snowdonia it took us roughly a 1 hour drive each time but this gave us great opportunity to stop off at beauty spots. It can get very cold in the yurt at night so the use of the wood stove is very much needed and the included free bucket of logs you get lasts at least 5 days. You share the kitchen and bathroom with the smaller yurt which everytime was clean and had... read more - 05 Jul 2019
Me and my partner had the most amazing experience at Shayne and Nathan’s yurt! It was a peaceful and relaxing break for us both. The yurt is beautiful and in the most gorgeous location! Shayne and Nathan were incredible and made us feel at home. We couldn’t recommend them and the yurt more! We didn’t want to come home! If you want a relaxing break in the Welsh mountains with kind and caring hosts then this is your place! You even have chickens to hang out with! :) - 26 Jul 2019Richard & Emma
Great location and the Yurt is really cool. Shayne and Nathan were really helpful and facilitated a late check in for us travelling up from Guildford.
Everything you need is here and it is a great base to explore from to places like Llangollen and Betsy.
Thanks for your hospitality. - 04 Aug 2019
We absolutely loved staying in the yurt, it has such a cosy wonderful vibe to it and the location was beautiful. Everything about our stay was amazing, can’t fault a single thing. The location was great for walking and getting to near by towns and the yurt and all the amenities were super clean. Shayne and Nathan were on holiday so we didn’t get to meet them but there friends were super helpful and showed us around. We will definitely be going back again! - 19 Aug 2018Edward
This is the second time we stayed here and, just as expected, we had a fantastic time. Our daily adventures in the local forests ended with a hearty BBQ in the idyllic setting, then a cosy fire in the gorgeous yurt. Perfect!! Shayne and Nathan are breath of fresh air - down to earth, friendly and extremely helpful. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you! - 17 Jul 2020
