Spaces & Accommodation
Centred around a magnificent modern straw bale roundhouse, accommodation is provided in two gorgeous yurts. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the log cabin with a small dining area plus a shower room/toilet and another smaller log cabin kitchenette with a compost loo and shower.
The roundhouse will very comfortably seat 20-25 people or to look at it another way, there's space for 8-10 yogis. Up to 6 guests can sleep in the roundhouse, whilst the yurts will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests between them.
Seats and fire bowls next to each yurt and a main central firepit near the roundhouse provide further communal spaces. The roundhouse and yurts are heated with wood burning stoves.
We may be 'off grid', but in terms of facilities you wouldn't know it! Plenty of hot water, a power shower, electricity in all the spaces and WiFi if required.View Spaces and Accommodation

This place is stunning. The yurt sits 400m above a sleepy Welsh village called Cynwyd. We arrived in the evening and woke up to gorgeous views, all covered in snow. Our hosts made sure we had everything we needed, and firewood was cheap and readily available for the stove in our yurt, keeping our stay cosy. Only a short 50 minute drive to Snowdonia national park, I fully recommend this as a place to stay if you'd like to climb Snowdon. Will definitely come back. 11 Nov 2019Chloë
A very relaxing experience! Warmer than expected in February once you get the wood burner going and a lovely space to be in. We brought a radio and games to keep ourselves entertained as not too much to do nearby in the evenings, but lots of nice walks within easy drive! Shayne and Nathan were great hosts and made us feel really welcome! 05 Feb 2018
What an incredible place. I can’t recommend this enough, get off the grid and unwind for a weekend!Nathan and Shayne are fantastic hosts who communicated really well and looked after us throughout the stay. They were happy to recommend anything locally but also left us to it in the yurt. Couldn’t ask for more for a weekend away relaxing. Thanks both for a top weekend! 11 Mar 2018Martin
Just back from a fabulous three day break in the Welsh mountains at one of the most unique airbnb properties we have ever stayed in. The location was excellent, being conveniently placed to access most of North Wales abd the yurt was everything that we expected, and yes, while we were in fact living off the grid, Shayne and Nathan made sure that the whole experience was extremely comfortable with plenty of hot showers and great kitchen facilities (and even wifi if you just have to keep in touch with the outside world but much better to leave technology... read more 24 Feb 2019Jeanette
What an amazing place to stay! We stayed in the smaller yurt, plenty big enough for both of us with lovely outside space and our own fire pit. Beautiful bed linen and wall hangings inside and fairy lights which added to the cozy ness along with the log burner. Fully equipped spotlessly clean kitchen in the log cabin next door. Didn’t get to meet Shayne unfortunately but Nathan is a great host. Very hospitable and up for a chat. They have a beautiful place up there in the forest and will most certainly be going back but for longer next... read more 21 Oct 2018

This is such a beautiful place, created with love and held by Shayne and Nathan. I felt so warmly welcomed and also inspired by their whole vision of living in harmony with nature, using only natural, sustainable resources... They prove what can be achieved...a wonderful place to be. 09 May 2018Christopher
One of the rare places you stumble across on Airbnb, get super excited about, and it lives up to and even surpasses expectations! A beautiful place in a magical location!!Nathan and Shayne were both lovely, welcoming and attentive hosts, we had everything we needed and our stay was not only a breeze but also very relaxing and chilled!!I could easily return time and time again! And hopefully will! Thanks a bunch and see you soon 21 Oct 2018
If you're looking for something a bit quirky but that still has all the amenities you need, then this is a great place to go. The hosts are so friendly and welcoming, the yurt was incredible and they have everything you need. Everything is clean and the setting is fantastic, beautiful and quiet with a nice babbling brook for background noise. The shared facilities were great and we never had any issues with waiting (there is only one other yurt). Overall, great stay. The beautiful weather definitely helped :) 17 Jul 2019
Met with a very warm welcome into a beautiful location, we were given a mini tour and had a little explanation of how all the amenities needed were supplied off grid. Impeccably clean!! Such and well throughout place, having the feeling of being outside of the night but with all the homely comforts! We will be back again! Thank you! 20 Sep 2019Juliet
Well, another blissful weekend at the Yurts. This time we had the weather with us and it was perfect- sunny and blowy, with chilly nights. Perfect yurt weather and Cynwyd weather as the walks through the woods and up by the waterfall are beautiful. As before, the yurts were equipped with logs, blankets and cushions for a cosy time In the evenings and everything was spotlessly clean. We were in the big yurt this time and it was fabulous. So much room. Very comfortable beds, a piping hot three way shower and well equipped kitchen makes it top glamping. Unforgettable... read more 31 Mar 2019

Had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful retreat recently. I can't recommend it highly enough. Ran by the most welcoming and friendly hosts, the retreat has everything you could wish for. Cosy yurts with log burning stoves, a well stocked Kitchen with everything you could possibly need, a roundhouse that's perfect for hosting a meditation or yoga class and miles upon miles of rolling hills and woodland walks. It's completely off the grid too. Perfect. 30 Jun 2019
Beautiful welsh scenery and surrounded by wildlife. Warm and good size Yurt - get the log fire going and you’ll be really toasty.Nathan and Shayne know the area well and recommended some great walks for dogs. You feel at peace sitting out on the veranda early morning with a cup of coffee listening to the flowing water and birds chirping away.Me and my wife stayed here for our first wedding Ann and our only regret is not staying long enough. We’ll be back eventually.Thank you Nathan & Shayne 25 Mar 2019Z
It was beautiful. Brought us back to nature. Saw the pheasants. Fed the chickens. Freedom to potter around the area. We watched the sunset lying in the hammock by the outdoor fire. Nathan was cheery and helpful and made us feel at home. The yurt was cosy with little stove. Great facilities - shower, kitchen. We had great experience. 24 Jun 2018Justine
We had a fantastic stay in the yurt, and can’t wait to return! Stunning, peaceful location on the edge of the forest, with waterfalls and hiking paths on your doorstep. The facilities are outstanding: a very well-equipped kitchen, delightful hot shower, wifi, and fire pits. Shayne was a warm host, giving us plenty of local advice. Thank you! 26 Aug 2019
Nathan was really friendly, and although we didn't have to interact a great deal, you could tell both Nathan and Shayne were incredibly attentive and helpful. The place itself is great and situated well for exploring. The yurt was fantastic, as were the rest of the facilities. It is the ideal place to escape stress and relax. 20 May 2018Julie Lines
What an idyllic, special place Ty Mam Mawr is! The perfect place to retreat, to unwind and reconnect with nature and the land. Shayne and Nathan are the most hospitable, generous and authentic people I know and pour their love into everything they offer here. The yurts, cabins and roundhouse are stunning and so relaxing. You are truly in the heart of Welsh nature and it is so good for the soul! Highly recommend. Thank you for creating this amazing off grid eco retreat haven Shayne and Nathan. One doesn’t always write fantastic Airb&b reviews, but this is the exception. Words do not exist to explain the utter brilliance of the yurt! The views are spectacular, great location to travel and see the many sights in Wales. The site it’s self and facilities are clean and well kept. We were very warm in the yurt with the duvet provided (there are extra blankets if you get cold). We loved our visit and will be back again in the future ! 11 Apr 2019
A great place to stay, the yurt was super warm despite the cold March weather and very spacious for 5 guests plus our dog. Great bathroom and kitchen facilities in addition to the yurt. Super walks available for our dog in the fields and woodland. Shayne was very friendly and even gave us some freshly laid eggs for breakfast. Very much enjoyed the stay 08 Mar 2020
What an amazing place. The yurt is simply gorgeous with everything you could need. the skylight to the stars is such a lovely touch and the chickens made us giggle a lot. Snowdon walks less than an hour away, and plenty of lovely walks near by or just enjoy the space laze in the hammock and build fires ;) Lush!! 10 Aug 2018

Visiting here for a retreat was very nourishing on many levels. The landscape was idyllic and captivating with some beautiful walks in nature nearby (and swims for those that dared!). Shayne and Nathan were excellent hosts who made the stay very comfortable and the roundhouse was a very peaceful and warm place to meditate. The food served was delicious and we ended up staying an extra day as we liked the place so much. Will definitely visit again! 13 Jun 2018Clare
Another amazing stay here at shayne an nathans! This time we stayed with friends in the big yurt. It was beautiful and very comfortable. Great new areas have been added since our last trip, compost loo and a new fire pit area. And some really sociable chickens. Thank you for having us all. Cant wait to come back. 22 Apr 2018
Really fantastic place, very peaceful with beautiful views. Yurt was truly cosy, once the fire got going it was lovely and toasty despite being 1 degree outside. Hosts were super hospitable even when we got very very lost! Great facilities for cooking, eating and socialising. Very friendly dogs even came to say hello which was a lovely surprise! Already planning on coming back soon! 30 Nov 2018Andrea
This place is just gorgeous, despite the weather we had an amazing time, the yurts are so warm with the log burner going so you don't get cold and the sound of the rain when you're all cosy and warm inside is so relaxing they have all amenities needed, the shower was lovely and hot, the kitchen was well kitted out with everything you need, worth noting they don't have a microwave but we didn't need one anyway so all good for us. Reading others reveiws before we came I was expecting it to be lovely and we weren't... read more 17 Jan 2020
I stayed for a weekend in February with my partner and we both had a wonderful time - we only wish we could have stayed longer! The yurt is well furnished and, thanks to the stove, warm enough even on a cold night. The cabin kitchen is clean and well-equipped, and made things much more convenient. And it's all set in beautiful surroundings. 18 Feb 2018
