Spaces & Accommodation

We love to help you feel at home.

Centred around a magnificent modern straw bale roundhouse, accommodation is provided in two gorgeous yurts. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the log cabin with a small dining area plus a shower room/toilet and another smaller log cabin kitchenette with a compost loo and shower.

The roundhouse will very comfortably seat 20-25 people or to look at it another way, there's space for 8-10 yogis. Up to 6 guests can sleep in the roundhouse, whilst the yurts will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests between them.

Seats and fire bowls next to each yurt and a main central firepit near the roundhouse provide further communal spaces. The roundhouse and yurts are heated with wood burning stoves.

We may be 'off grid', but in terms of facilities you wouldn't know it! Plenty of hot water, a power shower, electricity in all the spaces and WiFi if required.

A beautiful space in a gorgeous location - very homely. It's a bit of a steep drive up to the site but definitely worth the view once at the top; perfect to view the sunrise too! Nathan is very hospitable and is always happy to help and give suggestions (unfortunately didnt get to meet Shayne). Overall a perfect place to stay with very lovely animals on site too. Can't wait to go back again! - 16 Dec 2018

Really lovely surroundings. Nathan was easy going (Shayne was away, but I am sure she is also lovely!) and the yurt was a perfect little hub. We walked up the big hill with huge backpacks and I have to say the reward felt greater! Buuuuutt take up Shayne and Nathan’s offer for a lift if available. You’ll be thankful later - 29 Jan 2020

Amazing spot, and an absolutely fantastic off the beaten track place for families. The hosts were superb ensuring we had everything that we needed. The property was spacious, clean and quirky and a massive hit with our children as well as ourselves. - 31 May 2019

Beautiful location and home. We loved that it was isolated, that walking trails started on the doorstep and that it was still within walking distance of a village. Nathan was a great host and provided excellent walking suggestions. We highly recommend staying here, and we hope to be back! - 24 Jan 2020

What an idyllic, special place Ty Mam Mawr is! The perfect place to retreat, to unwind and reconnect with nature and the land. Shayne and Nathan are the most hospitable, generous and authentic people I know and pour their love into everything they offer here. The yurts, cabins and roundhouse are stunning and so relaxing. You are truly in the heart of Welsh nature and it is so good for the soul! Highly recommend. Thank you for creating this amazing off grid eco retreat haven Shayne and Nathan. XXX - 09 May 2018

A fantastic escape and a wonderful stay. I had never stayed in a yurt before but after some log burner practice we were snug as can be.

A real shame that we only had 3 nights!

Welcoming hosts to a Yurt in an idyllic location. A place to arrive at and not get in your car again until you leave.
Very comfortable yurt with well equipped kitchen and bathroom, we very much enjoyed just sitting, enjoying the views with a cup of tea and 'playing fire' in the evenings, we even managed to keep the stove going all night!
    Highly recommended.

Nathan & Shayne were warm, welcoming hosts and their yurt on the forest is just magical! They provided me with all the info I needed before my stay and helped me with any questions that I had. The yurt and the wood cabin for cooking had all the essentials you would need when 'glamping' and the location itself is so serene and beautiful, I enjoyed trying out all the great walks on offer! The yurt experience is something everyone should try at least once - warming up next to the traditional wood burning stove was great! The setting is just... read more - 02 Oct 2020

This place is stunning. The yurt sits 400m above a sleepy Welsh village called Cynwyd. We arrived in the evening and woke up to gorgeous views, all covered in snow. Our hosts made sure we had everything we needed, and firewood was cheap and readily available for the stove in our yurt, keeping our stay cosy. Only a short 50 minute drive to Snowdonia national park, I fully recommend this as a place to stay if you'd like to climb Snowdon. Will definitely come back. - 11 Nov 2019

I whole heartedly recommend this place for both time away and holding a retreat.
The environment is gorgeous and secluded with a beautiful forest walk and open fields right near by.
The yurts are a true delight to sleep in with ideal decor to match your get away in nature.
Shayne & Nathan the owners are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met and so accommodating. If you want to be on your own doing your own thing...

The location is unreal, great views when and close to all the areas we wanted to see. The bed was comfy and cosy and the yurt also had enough room inside to socialise and chill. Modern shower, toilet and sink in the bathroom. Hosts were friendly and answered any questions we had quickly. Would love to come back in the summer to enjoy again x - 10 Feb 2019

A great place to stay, the yurt was super warm despite the cold March weather and very spacious for 5 guests plus our dog.
Great bathroom and kitchen facilities in addition to the yurt.
Super walks available for our dog in the fields and woodland.
Shayne was very friendly and even gave us some freshly laid eggs for breakfast.
    Very much enjoyed the stay

We had an amazing 3 night stay in Nathan and Shayne’s yurt! Nathan gave us a warm welcome and tour on our arrival. We were blown away by the scenery surrounding the yurt and how self sufficient everything was. We’ve stayed in a few yurts before, but found this one really had all the amenities spot on! The kitchen, shower and toilet are on your door step, the fire pit and bbq are in a nice private area (also right beside the yurt) and the main log cabin has practically everything you can think of kitchen wise. What a top place! We’ve had a quick family break (2 adults, 3 kids age 9,10,13) and we’ve loved every minute of Yurt life! The Yurt itself is fantastic and a great space. Brilliantly decorated, a cosy warm stove and outside area for fires, seating. The facilities are all thoughtfully done with attention paid to being self sufficient as you are off grid. You wouldn’t know this though as you have all you need. Shayne and Nathan’s Airbnb is even better than we could’ve imagined - the photos really don’t do it justice. The hosts are lovely, down to earth and are there to help whether it’s to turn the oven on or suggest a place for lunch.
The location alone is incredible - somewhere that feels like the middle of nowhere whilst only being 5 minutes from the main road. Words can’t describe how incredible this place is.

Outstanding. Spent four nights over Christmas. In the big yurt. Sleeps 8. Terribly romantic. Nice double bed. Fairy lights so sweet. Stylish design. Hot shower and flushable loo. Huge gas oven for Christmas dinner. Shared kitchen with couple in other yurt which worked fine. Location remote and beautiful. Found great Welsh stew at Grouse Inn but we drove there. Would be scary in ice as some steep drops from the road. Top of a hill so great views but our 4x4 was reassuring! Two lovely chickens. No roosters. Amazing retreat location. You've got to visit. - 26 Dec 2017

Ty Mam Mawr is a perfect haven, set in stunning land scape nestled in a valley. I recently attended a Bioenergetics shaking retreat there; Shayne and Nathan made perfect hosts for a weekend where we all mucked in together; super relaxed and easy to get along with, over seeing us and also pointing us in the right direction for walks and wild swims in rivers and reservoirs. The round house, made out of natural materials made a wonderful place for meditations and inner reflection work. I'm already looking forward to the next weekend planned in November.....hope to see you there! - 06 Sep 2017

If you are looking for something a bit different then the Yurt is great. Warm, cosy and good for stargazing in the evenings. Make sure you put the full address in as only the postcode takes you to a dead end at the end of the road. Nathan met us to check in and show us around, he was helpful and recommended a few local places to find food. The Yurt gets very toasty andalthough the supplied wood only lasted one night, the DIY shop in Corwen sells wood and kindling quite cheap so it wasn't an issue. The... read more - 28 Mar 2019
