Spaces & Accommodation
Centred around a magnificent modern straw bale roundhouse, accommodation is provided in two gorgeous yurts. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the log cabin with a small dining area plus a shower room/toilet and another smaller log cabin kitchenette with a compost loo and shower.
The roundhouse will very comfortably seat 20-25 people or to look at it another way, there's space for 8-10 yogis. Up to 6 guests can sleep in the roundhouse, whilst the yurts will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests between them.
Seats and fire bowls next to each yurt and a main central firepit near the roundhouse provide further communal spaces. The roundhouse and yurts are heated with wood burning stoves.
We may be 'off grid', but in terms of facilities you wouldn't know it! Plenty of hot water, a power shower, electricity in all the spaces and WiFi if required.View Spaces and Accommodation

We had a great 2 nights in the Yurt! It’s exactly as the pictures and the wood burner was more than warm enough even when it was nearly freezing outside :)
We would hope to come back in the summer to make more use of the outdoor spaces!
Thanks Shayne & Nathan for the experience we would 100% recommend it! :) - 24 Mar 2019
Just back from a fabulous three day break in the Welsh mountains at one of the most unique airbnb properties we have ever stayed in.
The location was excellent, being conveniently placed to access most of North Wales abd the yurt was everything that we expected, and yes, while we were in fact living off the grid, Shayne and Nathan made sure that the whole experience was extremely comfortable with plenty of hot showers and great kitchen facilities (and even wifi if you just have to keep in touch with the outside world but much better to leave technology... read more - 24 Feb 2019
This was my partner and I’s second trip to this yurt as we loved it so much the first time. It is wonderfully secluded, however still close enough to all the things that you may need. With it being a stones throw from all of the fantastic walks and activities that Snowdonia has to offer you will never be short of things to do.
Shayne and Nathan are lovely people and great hosts, always on hand to help out if needed or just for good chats.
With the extra capacity and great kitchen/shower room now on offer I would happily recommend to... read more - 17 Mar 2018Svenja
The yurt is as beautiful as in the pictures and we had a great time staying in it. The bed was comfy, there is a proper shower and all kitchen paraphernalia, one needs. Bring your own matches, towles, tea etc. though.
The surrounding area is beautiful, Pistyll Rhaeadr is really worth visiting. - 19 Jun 2018
This little yurt and cabin next door were fantastic - just right for the best and worst weather! It's secluded off the beaten track, and felt safe for my adventurous 8 year old. Host were great too - very helpful. I'm sure this site will continue to get better and better . Thank you. - 03 Jun 2018Julie Lines
What an idyllic, special place Ty Mam Mawr is! The perfect place to retreat, to unwind and reconnect with nature and the land. Shayne and Nathan are the most hospitable, generous and authentic people I know and pour their love into everything they offer here. The yurts, cabins and roundhouse are stunning and so relaxing. You are truly in the heart of Welsh nature and it is so good for the soul! Highly recommend. Thank you for creating this amazing off grid eco retreat haven Shayne and Nathan. XXX - 09 May 2018
We had a wonderful weekend away is this fabulous yurt. The location is perfect and simply peaceful. Nathan was a brilliant host. Excellent communication and the yurt was exactly as advertised. The log fire ensured we were cosy at night. Sitting out on the deck in the evening is just tranquil; the stars are so bright. We did lots of walking around the local area. Thanks for the tips and the use of your map. We will certainly recommend to friends and will be back ourselves sometime soon. Thanks for a fabulous weekend break. What a special place this is! It was in exactly the location we were after for the Welsh leg of our road trip and the idea of a remote yurt certainly did appeal! The yurt was super comfortable and kept us cosy during some heavy rain. The view from the deck when the sun came out was fantastic. Kitchen cabin had everything we needed as well. Shayn & Nathan were great hosts and have created such a great place to stay. Totally recommend for anyone wanting something a little off the beaten track and different! I hope to get back... read more - 30 Jul 2018
My family and I stayed here to celebrate my birthday. The yurt is beautiful and the facilities are well above the standard you would expect from off grid living. We were able to enjoy the bbq and fire pit. Chilling our drinks in the pond was all part of the adventure (there is a very large kitchen with fridge available but that isn’t as fun!)
Shayne was a wonderful host and although we didn’t meet Nathan his enthusiasm for off grid living was evident in all the fantastic facilities he has built.
Stay here to get away from it all. - 22 Apr 2019Clare
Our third trip staying at shayne a and Nathan's and we absolutely love it, and wish we could live there. The hosts are really friendly and lovely people to be around, we ran out of wood, so nathan happily came and chopped some for us. The yurts are so comfortable, and the facilities are great for any weather. Hope to stay again soon. - 27 May 2019
What a wonderful place! When we arrived in Cynwyd we were struggling with baggage and so Nathan very kindly offered to pick us up and take us to the yurts. It was a nice drive up to the yurts and we were greeted with the freshest air I’ve ever tasted.. Nathan showed us around the place and explained everything perfectly, we had nothing to really ask him (other than when we realised we don’t really know how fires work). We stayed in the smaller yurt and it was perfect for the two of us, it heated up really quickly and... read more - 20 Dec 2019
Shayne and Nathan’s Airbnb is even better than we could’ve imagined - the photos really don’t do it justice. The hosts are lovely, down to earth and are there to help whether it’s to turn the oven on or suggest a place for lunch.
The location alone is incredible - somewhere that feels like the middle of nowhere whilst only being 5 minutes from the main road. Words can’t describe how incredible this place is. - 22 Sep 2019Gemma
We stayed in the bigger yert, and didnt use the log cabin at all expect for rubbish, as we wanted to experience off the grid living as much as possible. We cooked on the fire pit and heated food up in the stove. To do this you have to take your own cooking equipment. I'd also take an ex so you can go get your own logs. If you want to experience off the grid living but still want a bed and hot shower this place will defo give you that. Lovely views, it's quite privet, think we bumbed... read more - 03 Jun 2019
This place is just gorgeous, despite the weather we had an amazing time, the yurts are so warm with the log burner going so you don't get cold and the sound of the rain when you're all cosy and warm inside is so relaxing they have all amenities needed, the shower was lovely and hot, the kitchen was well kitted out with everything you need, worth noting they don't have a microwave but we didn't need one anyway so all good for us.

Sheer Love, Healing and Power emanates from The House and I was gifted with the opportunity of sharing in some of Her energy, truly a blessing and an honour to have had such an experience. Shayne and Nathan are pioneer souls of the New Earth and have manifested a sanctum that anchors as much as it radiates. Immeasurable gratitude to the work being dreamed, crafted and actualised here and may the vision ever-expand according to the Highest Good of All. Really lovely surroundings. Nathan was easy going (Shayne was away, but I am sure she is also lovely!) and the yurt was a perfect little hub. We walked up the big hill with huge backpacks and I have to say the reward felt greater! Buuuuutt take up Shayne and Nathan’s offer for a lift if available. You’ll be thankful later - 29 Jan 2020
Wonderful and beautiful place. We were 4 young adults who went to have a relaxing weekend away, and that’s exactly what we got.
The yurt was in such a lovely secluded place, with plenty of different and exciting walking spots and some absolutely stunning views, in every direction.
Was interesting using the compost toilet as this was a new experience for all of us! Everything was very clean and well prepared for our visit.
We couldn’t have asked for a better host and will definitely be returning for future holidays. - 29 Apr 2018
I stayed for a weekend in February with my partner and we both had a wonderful time - we only wish we could have stayed longer!
The yurt is well furnished and, thanks to the stove, warm enough even on a cold night. The cabin kitchen is clean and well-equipped, and made things much more convenient. And it's all set in beautiful surroundings. - 18 Feb 2018
Myself and my 3 friends spent a weekend here, we all had an amazing time!! I would definitely recommend 2/3 night minimum as it is off grid and theres a lot to see and do around the area but you’ll need that bit more time as you have to travel quite a bit to get to places. Kitchen and shower facilities were superb. Breathtaking views and location, both hosts very happy to help. I would recommend speaking to the hosts on how to get there prior your journey, just as air bnb directions sent us a little wrong . Definitely recommended!! - 23 Sep 2018Katie
It’s a very relaxing retreat but with all the modern conveniences (WiFi, power sockets, power shower, gas hob and oven) while still being able to use renewable energy. They’ve honestly thought of everything. The thought and care shines through in the little touches. You won’t be disappointed. - 22 Jul 2018

Delight-filling Paradise on Earth.... Ty Mam Mawr - House of The Great Mother, has clearly been created with great love and vision by Nathan and Shayne. A beautiful and beautifully constructed sacred retreat centre... built to serve, inspire, evolve and grow, far into the future.
Mother Nature's Blessings on this place are palpable.
Only just completed, the roundhouse and surrounding yurts and cabins already feel like sacred community... hosted by the warmth and dynamic creativity of Shayne, Nathan and their dogs, chickens and cats.

I had the most incredible stay at Ty Mam Mawr - Shayne and Nathan were such warm and generous hosts. A group of us booked out the site for a meditation retreat and it was the perfect setting to allow for such work to take place. Gorgeous scenery, beautiful, cosy yurts to stay in, a nearby waterfall that we walked down to and swam in! Adorable friendly pets - dogs and chickens! - that roamed around, sweetly interacting with us. And the site is clearly a labour of love - these stunning, eco-friendly structures. Oh and I mustn't forget Shayne's... read more - 26 Jun 2019
Absolutely fantastic stay! Not only was it a beautiful location but the hospitality during our time there made us wish we could have stayed longer!
Hosts welcomed our dog, who thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the other pets and wildlife. They were very accommodating of this and ensuring we had everything we required.
Yurt itself and decor created a peaceful ambience and we were supplied with enough wood to keep the fire going! Would definitely recommend a stay here with themes superb hosts - 11 Apr 2019Craig WG Seaton
I have had the great pleasure in spending a night at Ty Mam Mawr and also running a weekend retreat there.
I whole heartedly recommend this place for both time away and holding a retreat.
The environment is gorgeous and secluded with a beautiful forest walk and open fields right near by.
The yurts are a true delight to sleep in with ideal decor to match your get away in nature.
Shayne & Nathan the owners are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met and so accommodating. If you want to be on your own doing your own thing... read more - 24 Jun 2019Andy
Beautiful secluded spot with incredible views. The yurt itself is fantastic - cosy, comfortable, the perfect getaway. Far enough to feel completely immersed in nature and to fully enjoy beautiful snowdonia, and close enough to the next village for anything you might need. Perfect spot! - 10 Nov 2017
I highly recommend this unique trip! The yurt is incredibly comfortable and charming and the surrounding countryside is magnificent! Shayne and Nathan were very welcoming and helpful, it was a pleasure to meet them and experience some ‘off grid’ living! We will definitely be coming back! - 02 Sep 2018Nadine
Everything about our stay at Shayne and Nathan’s was perfect! I was a little sceptical about staying in a Yurt in the height of winter but it was super cosy and warm with the wood burning stove. Shayne and Nathan were on hand for advice about the local area and ensuring our stay was as enjoyable as possible. Can’t recommend this place enough! What an incredible space in a breathtaking location. - 11 Feb 2018
