Spaces & Accommodation
Centred around a magnificent modern straw bale roundhouse, accommodation is provided in two gorgeous yurts. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the log cabin with a small dining area plus a shower room/toilet and another smaller log cabin kitchenette with a compost loo and shower.
The roundhouse will very comfortably seat 20-25 people or to look at it another way, there's space for 8-10 yogis. Up to 6 guests can sleep in the roundhouse, whilst the yurts will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests between them.
Seats and fire bowls next to each yurt and a main central firepit near the roundhouse provide further communal spaces. The roundhouse and yurts are heated with wood burning stoves.
We may be 'off grid', but in terms of facilities you wouldn't know it! Plenty of hot water, a power shower, electricity in all the spaces and WiFi if required.View Spaces and Accommodation

From the get-go Nathan and Shayne where fantastic. Any questions you have leading up to to your check-inn date are responded quickly, Including local knowledge of information about any activities you've got planned in the area. The quick 10 minute introduction about the facilities was good, we even asked several questions about how the off-grid system they have works. The Yurt itself was incredible and very clean. The amenities on-site where also great and clean. Our group spent the day climbing Snowden and was lovely to come back to a shower (which uses straight off the mountain water) and have... read more - 21 Jul 2019Lorna
A beautiful and welcoming yurt set in an amazing location surrounded by forrests full of wild phesants! A great space to relax and reconnect with nature during the day then getting comfy around a fire pit at night and watching the stars. The yurt warms up a treat once the stove is lit and there were plenty of extra blankets to hand. The hosts Shayne and Nathan were always at hand to help if needed and provided a very friendly welcome. We took a short drive out down the A5 to Chirk Castle which makes a beautiful... read more - 02 Sep 2018

I had the most incredible stay at Ty Mam Mawr - Shayne and Nathan were such warm and generous hosts. A group of us booked out the site for a meditation retreat and it was the perfect setting to allow for such work to take place. Gorgeous scenery, beautiful, cosy yurts to stay in, a nearby waterfall that we walked down to and swam in! Adorable friendly pets - dogs and chickens! - that roamed around, sweetly interacting with us. And the site is clearly a labour of love - these stunning, eco-friendly structures. Oh and I mustn't forget Shayne's... read more - 26 Jun 2019
We were blessed to have had a Heavenly stay in this sanctuary of sorts that was so lovingly dreamed into being by the wonderful Nathan and Shayne. Peacefully surrounded by beautiful nature whilst sleeping in a magical yurt knowing that it’s in an ecologically minded way is truly a gift! We are so thankful to the both of them and from the heart recommend a stay here. - 28 Jun 2018
What an amazing place to stay! We stayed in the smaller yurt, plenty big enough for both of us with lovely outside space and our own fire pit. Beautiful bed linen and wall hangings inside and fairy lights which added to the cozy ness along with the log burner. Fully equipped spotlessly clean kitchen in the log cabin next door. Didn’t get to meet Shayne unfortunately but Nathan is a great host. Very hospitable and up for a chat. They have a beautiful place up there in the forest and will most certainly be going back but for longer next... read more - 21 Oct 2018Craig
I have had the great pleasure in spending a night at Ty Mam Mawr and also running a weekend retreat there.
I whole heartedly recommend this place for both time away and holding a retreat.
The environment is gorgeous and secluded with a beautiful forest walk and open fields right near by.
The yurts are a true delight to sleep in with ideal decor to match your get away in nature.
Shayne & Nathan the owners are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met and so accommodating. If you want to be on your own doing your own thing... read more - 16 Jun 2019Verity
Such a beautiful place to spend the weekend! I cannot recommend Shayne and Nathan's place enough.
Our hosts were super hospitable and friendly, any questions we had they were just a text away.
The large Yurt is authentically Mongolian and it is a truly magical space, perfect for a group to relax around a fire. The smaller yurt was more secluded, really gorgeous and had a beautiful view. Super warm and cosy and no need for the fires. Nathan generously supplied a starter kit too so no forking out for fire wood! You are off-grid so we had to be mindful... read more - 09 Sep 2018

Had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful retreat recently. I can't recommend it highly enough. Ran by the most welcoming and friendly hosts, the retreat has everything you could wish for. Cosy yurts with log burning stoves, a well stocked Kitchen with everything you could possibly need, a roundhouse that's perfect for hosting a meditation or yoga class and miles upon miles of rolling hills and woodland walks. It's completely off the grid too. Perfect. - 30 Jun 2019Christopher
One of the rare places you stumble across on Airbnb, get super excited about, and it lives up to and even surpasses expectations! A beautiful place in a magical location!!
Nathan and Shayne were both lovely, welcoming and attentive hosts, we had everything we needed and our stay was not only a breeze but also very relaxing and chilled!!
I could easily return time and time again! And hopefully will!
Thanks a bunch and see you soon - 21 Oct 2018
Another amazing stay here at shayne an nathans! This time we stayed with friends in the big yurt. It was beautiful and very comfortable. Great new areas have been added since our last trip, compost loo and a new fire pit area. And some really sociable chickens. Thank you for having us all. Cant wait to come back. - 22 Apr 2018Moyra
We had a lovely stay, the yurt was gorgeous and very cosy. The deck outside was fantastic to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. Lovely location, so peaceful and I loved all the fruit trees, statues etc and the general ambiance was wonderful. Very welcome hot showers after our walk in the hills, and the kitchen was a nice space to sit and enjoy our breakfast. Thanks so much! - 30 Sep 2018
Beautiful location and wonderful hosts. Nathan met us when we arrived and gave us the tour and rundown of the facilities.
Lovely helpful hosts, we were given space to enjoy our holiday whilst never being far away should we need anything.
The kitchen is incredibly well appointed, shower is good and hot.

What a top place! We’ve had a quick family break (2 adults, 3 kids age 9,10,13) and we’ve loved every minute of Yurt life! The Yurt itself is fantastic and a great space. Brilliantly decorated, a cosy warm stove and outside area for fires, seating. The facilities are all thoughtfully done with attention paid to being self sufficient as you are off grid. You wouldn’t know this though as you have all you need. The area itself is off the beaten track and you need to drive to access shops, eating etc but there is also a well equipped kitchen... read more - 28 Apr 2019
Shayne and Nathan’s yurt is AMAZING. It’s the perfect escape for the weekend in the beautiful backdrop of North Wales.
This is the second time I’ve stayed there with friends and Nathan is an amazing host. We felt instantly welcome and relaxed.
I’d highly recommend this to anyone. It’s a great space and living off the grid is cool! - 09 Dec 2018Rochelle
Very quiet and peaceful holiday which was perfect for us and our dog. Great location with many walks close by, to get further afield into snowdonia it took us roughly a 1 hour drive each time but this gave us great opportunity to stop off at beauty spots. It can get very cold in the yurt at night so the use of the wood stove is very much needed and the included free bucket of logs you get lasts at least 5 days. You share the kitchen and bathroom with the smaller yurt which everytime was clean and had... read more - 05 Jul 2019
Shayne & Nathan we’re wonderful hosts, very attentive to our needs and keen to give tips on places to visit & local hidden gems nearby.
The yurt was spacious, clean and we loved the hammock outside to chill in near the camp fire in the evenings.
Very cool experience - would recommend to a friend and family! - 25 Jul 2018Maeve
I highly recommend this unique trip! The yurt is incredibly comfortable and charming and the surrounding countryside is magnificent! Shayne and Nathan were very welcoming and helpful, it was a pleasure to meet them and experience some ‘off grid’ living! We will definitely be coming back! - 02 Sep 2018
We stayed for four nights with our 6 month old daughter. The Yurt looks great and is in a beautiful location. It is very comfortable and cosy even though it's pretty large. Shayne and Nathan were great hosts, very easy going, easy to talk to and helpful. Facilities were all good, kitchen was well equiped and comfy. - 21 Jun 2019
Shayne and Nathan were superb hosts- nothing was ever too much trouble and they thought of everything. The yurt was clean and designed so well- absolutely loved our stay there- definitely be great to go back in the summer time. It had been snowing during our visit but the yurt itself was so warm and cosy we looked forward to our cosy nights in after a day of exploring. Kitchen has everything you need and so interesting how they generate own energy. Really is a relaxing stay away- missing it already! Definitely a chilled eco friendly mini break! Firstly, what a Stunning location, beautifully furnished yurt, so peaceful and relaxing, we were lucky to have good weather, chilly and frosty, but that also brought wonderful sunsets, the log burner soon warms the lovely yurt up. We sat outside wrapped up in our blankets, nice mug of hot chocolate, and mulled wine in the hammocks, enjoying the endless change of scenery throughout our trip.
Shayne and Nathan are such a lovely couple, not to forget the lovely dogs Tilly and Ruby, who were kind enough to take us on a walk around the forest.
Kitchen area has a full... read more - 03 Dec 2019
Absolutely loved my stay at the Yurt. Its the second time I've stayed, and it's been just as lovely of not better. The facilities are great, and have grown since the first time I went a couple of years ago, and I will definitely be back with more now there's more space!! Nathan and Shayne are lovely, the location is perfect for doing nothing but close enough to go explore Wales, and the yurt is just amazing! Thank you again, Jenni - 13 May 2019
Fantastic hosts, it was an overall brilliant experience. The yurt was beautiful and very peaceful. The amenities are great too. Nathan was lovely and was very informative with suggestions on what to do in the area/nearby. 100% overall, thanks again look forward to visiting again in the future. - 14 Apr 2019
A great place to stay, the yurt was super warm despite the cold March weather and very spacious for 5 guests plus our dog.
Great bathroom and kitchen facilities in addition to the yurt.
Super walks available for our dog in the fields and woodland.
Shayne was very friendly and even gave us some freshly laid eggs for breakfast.
Very much enjoyed the stay - 08 Mar 2020
