Spaces & Accommodation
Centred around a magnificent modern straw bale roundhouse, accommodation is provided in two gorgeous yurts. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the log cabin with a small dining area plus a shower room/toilet and another smaller log cabin kitchenette with a compost loo and shower.
The roundhouse will very comfortably seat 20-25 people or to look at it another way, there's space for 8-10 yogis. Up to 6 guests can sleep in the roundhouse, whilst the yurts will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests between them.
Seats and fire bowls next to each yurt and a main central firepit near the roundhouse provide further communal spaces. The roundhouse and yurts are heated with wood burning stoves.
We may be 'off grid', but in terms of facilities you wouldn't know it! Plenty of hot water, a power shower, electricity in all the spaces and WiFi if required.View Spaces and Accommodation

Excellent hosts - Nathan had great communication and made check-in super easy. The yurt was very cosy and even when it was only 5 degrees outside, the inside was so warm (after a couple of minutes with a log on the fire!) Will recommend to anyone looking for a short stay in the North Wales mountains. - 10 May 2019Hetty
Nathan and Shayne were such lovely hosts, we had a very peaceful and relaxing holiday in Cynwyd. We stayed for a week with our new baby and dog and we had everything we needed right on our doorstep. Stunning views, lovely walks and a gorgeous yurt to return to for cosy evenings and rainy days. Shayne and Nathan couldn’t have been more hospitable and the kitchenette was well stocked with everything we needed. We would love to go back one day, it was the perfect holiday for our new family. - 07 Sep 2020Helen
Shayne and Nathan’s yurt is absolutely beautiful. The decor is very attractive and colourful and the yurt feels so cosy with the log burning stove on. The scenery surrounding the yurt is absolutely stunning and there are also interesting and picturesque towns to visit nearby. The cooking, bathroom and shower facilities were beyond anything we expected and made the stay practical and easy. We would highly recommend staying here. - 24 Sep 2019

One doesn’t always write fantastic Airb&b reviews, but this is the exception.
Words do not exist to explain the utter brilliance of the yurt!
The views are spectacular, great location to travel and see the many sights in Wales.
The site it’s self and facilities are clean and well kept. We were very warm in the yurt with the duvet provided (there are extra blankets if you get cold). We loved our visit and will be back again in the future ! - 11 Apr 2019
Such a fantastic place to stay, right in the middle of the countryside. An hour to Snowdon an hour to the coast... brilliant. The fire in the yurt kept the room toastie, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook a Christmas roast and the shower had lovely hot water. Highly recommend! - 28 Dec 2019
Shayne & Nathan’s yurt was perfect for our 5 day getaway. The location was brilliant and a great base for everywhere we wanted to visit. The yurt itself was lovely and just as you see in the pictures. Shower & Kitchen facilities were great for us as well. Although the yurt is on their property it always felt very private. We’ll definitely come back to stay again! - 14 Aug 2020Alex
I stayed for a weekend in February with my partner and we both had a wonderful time - we only wish we could have stayed longer!
The yurt is well furnished and, thanks to the stove, warm enough even on a cold night. The cabin kitchen is clean and well-equipped, and made things much more convenient. And it's all set in beautiful surroundings. - 18 Feb 2018

Stunning location for a weekend retreat We hosted a retreat for 12 people across a weekend, with yoga, meditation, breathwork, cold water therapy and hikes in nature. We love this space, as it's such a beautiful setting in nature and the yurts and round house are so charming! Shayne + Nathan were really supportive, helpful and welcoming. The yurts are comfy and cosy to sleep in, the facilities are excellent - nice hot showers, good water pressure, clean toilets and a decent kitchen with loads of utensils so we could cook group meals for our retreat guests. We had a fireside chat one evening around... read more - 26 Oct 2021Christine
We had an amazing 3 night stay in Nathan and Shayne’s yurt! Nathan gave us a warm welcome and tour on our arrival. We were blown away by the scenery surrounding the yurt and how self sufficient everything was. We’ve stayed in a few yurts before, but found this one really had all the amenities spot on! The kitchen, shower and toilet are on your door step, the fire pit and bbq are in a nice private area (also right beside the yurt) and the main log cabin has practically everything you can think of kitchen wise. We had plenty... read more - 28 Sep 2019

I just held a breathwork and shamanic healing retreat at Ty Mam Mawr and it was a beautiful experience beginning to end. This review almost seems like I'm cheating writing a good review for two extremely good friends, that's how well we were welcomed and the depth of our connection to Shayne and Nathan. The location is absolutely gorgeous. The yurts are really cool and cosy. The round house is an energetic bubble with the vibe of a really sacred space.Shayne and Nathan are two of the most pleasant, loving, funny and authentic people I've ever met. Everything about our stay at Shayne and Nathan’s was perfect! I was a little sceptical about staying in a Yurt in the height of winter but it was super cosy and warm with the wood burning stove. Shayne and Nathan were on hand for advice about the local area and ensuring our stay was as enjoyable as possible. Can’t recommend this place enough! What an incredible space in a breathtaking location. - 11 Feb 2018Jane
What a find! Right in the middle of the mountains at Cynwyd with amazing views over the valleys. We only booked for one night en route to Anglesey and wished we had stayed longer. Total peace & quiet surrounded by wildlife and stunning scenery. It was the first time we stayed in a yurt and we would definitely do it again (if you're not a fan of camping in a tent in the height of summer - which I'm not - this is perfect). In the evening, we sat on the deck in the lovely hammock seats enjoying a glass... read more - 15 Jul 2019
You’ll love this place! Up on too of a hill, you can see the sunrise, sunset and moon rise. The changing weather systems make the scenery constantly different and interesting. The local village is super friendly as is the wee pub.
There is plenty wild swimming around, loads of walks and wonderful nature.
There is so much to do we ended up spending every day out the whole day but the yurt is huge and would allow for plenty of at home activities too.
Shayne, Nathan and all the animals are welcoming, helpful and friendly. - 09 Aug 2020Emily
Met with a very warm welcome into a beautiful location, we were given a mini tour and had a little explanation of how all the amenities needed were supplied off grid. Impeccably clean!! Such and well throughout place, having the feeling of being outside of the night but with all the homely comforts!
We will be back again!
Thank you! - 20 Sep 2019Juliet
Well, another blissful weekend at the Yurts. This time we had the weather with us and it was perfect- sunny and blowy, with chilly nights. Perfect yurt weather and Cynwyd weather as the walks through the woods and up by the waterfall are beautiful. As before, the yurts were equipped with logs, blankets and cushions for a cosy time In the evenings and everything was spotlessly clean. We were in the big yurt this time and it was fabulous. So much room. Very comfortable beds, a piping hot three way shower and well equipped kitchen makes it top glamping. Unforgettable... read more - 31 Mar 2019

Ty Mam Mawr is a perfect haven, set in stunning land scape nestled in a valley. I recently attended a Bioenergetics shaking retreat there; Shayne and Nathan made perfect hosts for a weekend where we all mucked in together; super relaxed and easy to get along with, over seeing us and also pointing us in the right direction for walks and wild swims in rivers and reservoirs. The round house, made out of natural materials made a wonderful place for meditations and inner reflection work. I'm already looking forward to the next weekend planned in November.....hope to see you there! - 06 Sep 2017Lesley
Most relaxing break ever, we will be back. Shared kitchen is excellent and shower/toilet spotless.
Loved the yurt, warm, cosy and comfy on the frosty cold first night.
Lucky to get a sunny Saturday in Wales and I just wanted to sit and swing in the hammock chair :)
Fell in love with the chucks too! I felt right at home in this beautiful spot. The outdoor spaces are excellent.
Lovely host nathan made us feel most welcome - 07 Apr 2019
What an incredible place. I can’t recommend this enough, get off the grid and unwind for a weekend!
Nathan and Shayne are fantastic hosts who communicated really well and looked after us throughout the stay.
They were happy to recommend anything locally but also left us to it in the yurt.
Couldn’t ask for more for a weekend away relaxing.
Thanks both for a top weekend! - 11 Mar 2018Emily
Faultless! Nathan gave us the warmest of welcomes and made us feel at home right away, which is such a relief when traveling with dogs. The space is absolutely stunning, well designed with lots of thoughtful touches like handmade rugs, mood lighting, extra blankets, logs for the fire etc. The whole trip was made completely stress free by the detailed instructions from detailed directions to log burner operations. The location is perfect for a quiet getaway surrounded by beautiful walks through the woods with some stunning views as recommended by the amazing hosts. We’ll definitely be returning soon! - 22 Sep 2020Danielle
Myself and my 3 friends spent a weekend here, we all had an amazing time!! I would definitely recommend 2/3 night minimum as it is off grid and theres a lot to see and do around the area but you’ll need that bit more time as you have to travel quite a bit to get to places. Kitchen and shower facilities were superb. Breathtaking views and location, both hosts very happy to help. I would recommend speaking to the hosts on how to get there prior your journey, just as air bnb directions sent us a little wrong . Definitely recommended!! - 23 Sep 2018
Really fantastic place, very peaceful with beautiful views. Yurt was truly cosy, once the fire got going it was lovely and toasty despite being 1 degree outside. Hosts were super hospitable even when we got very very lost! Great facilities for cooking, eating and socialising. Very friendly dogs even came to say hello which was a lovely surprise! Already planning on coming back soon! - 30 Nov 2018
My family and I stayed here to celebrate my birthday. The yurt is beautiful and the facilities are well above the standard you would expect from off grid living. We were able to enjoy the bbq and fire pit. Chilling our drinks in the pond was all part of the adventure (there is a very large kitchen with fridge available but that isn’t as fun!)
Shayne was a wonderful host and although we didn’t meet Nathan his enthusiasm for off grid living was evident in all the fantastic facilities he has built.
Stay here to get away from it all. - 22 Apr 2019
A beautiful and welcoming yurt set in an amazing location surrounded by forrests full of wild phesants! A great space to relax and reconnect with nature during the day then getting comfy around a fire pit at night and watching the stars. The yurt warms up a treat once the stove is lit and there were plenty of extra blankets to hand. The hosts Shayne and Nathan were always at hand to help if needed and provided a very friendly welcome. We took a short drive out down the A5 to Chirk Castle which makes a beautiful... read more - 02 Sep 2018
Great location with lots of walks on your door step. Only 20 mins drive to Llangollen. Less to Corwen village. The large yurt has plenty of space with a nice comfy bed. The wood stove heats up nicely after 20-30mins. The kitchen is outside, but sheltered. It’s well equipped.
We had a lovely weekend and I would highly recommend it for the glamping experience. Remember it is glamping, so won’t always have all your luxuries, but that’s what makes it fun. :-) - 09 Jan 2022Rachel
If you want somewhere peaceful, beautiful and cosy this is it. We loved staying in the yurt, and getting back to basics cooking on the fire. There’s everything you need here and a fab place to just relax and chill out. Local towns with pubs and restaurants aren’t far and there’s great access to the A5 if you’re looking to visit Snowdonia National Park. - 07 May 2021
This place is stunning. The yurt sits 400m above a sleepy Welsh village called Cynwyd. We arrived in the evening and woke up to gorgeous views, all covered in snow. Our hosts made sure we had everything we needed, and firewood was cheap and readily available for the stove in our yurt, keeping our stay cosy. Only a short 50 minute drive to Snowdonia national park, I fully recommend this as a place to stay if you'd like to climb Snowdon. Will definitely come back. - 11 Nov 2019Jeremy
Shayne and Nathan were excellent hosts and it was great to share their lifestyle for a few days. They looked after us very well, being readily available for advice and a chat, but never being obtrusive. The yurt itself was well furnished, with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The location is excellent - peaceful, away from it all, with good views all around and lovely walks from the door. Visits from the friendly chickens and pheasants while barbecuing on the verandah were an added bonus. A great place to stay. - 11 Sep 2020
