Spaces & Accommodation
Centred around a magnificent modern straw bale roundhouse, accommodation is provided in two gorgeous yurts. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the log cabin with a small dining area plus a shower room/toilet and another smaller log cabin kitchenette with a compost loo and shower.
The roundhouse will very comfortably seat 20-25 people or to look at it another way, there's space for 8-10 yogis. Up to 6 guests can sleep in the roundhouse, whilst the yurts will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests between them.
Seats and fire bowls next to each yurt and a main central firepit near the roundhouse provide further communal spaces. The roundhouse and yurts are heated with wood burning stoves.
We may be 'off grid', but in terms of facilities you wouldn't know it! Plenty of hot water, a power shower, electricity in all the spaces and WiFi if required.View Spaces and Accommodation

Wow! What a wonderful place to stay! The perfect place to get away from it all, chill and just enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Beautiful location and still convenient for other towns. Would definitely recommend the walk to Liberty Hall from the yurt and being around for sunset, also using the fire pit and star gazing at night. We'll certainly be back in future! Great, friendly and helpful hosts too xxx - 19 Sep 2019Lauren
Shayne & Nathan are both lovely people, they make you feel right at home! We really enjoyed our stay in their beautiful yurt and they were always there to provide a helping hand. The yurt was provided with a lovely view which required all the essential you need for a cosy weekend off the grid. I can't thank them enough for their kindness and for making our stay that extra special. I will most definitely be booking another weekend soon and I recommend to anyone :) - 02 Apr 2018
Our stay was perfectly timed for a nice warm Easter weekend. We were greeted by Shayne who was very attentive and made us feel at home. The yurt is lovely, just exactly what you expect, with nice views. What we really enjoyed was the birdsong, a range of finches but also woodpeckers, cuckoo and even a sighting of a sparrowhawk. There are some resident Pheasant families that will keep you amused for hours. Considering this is off grid it didn't feel like it in that electricity and wifi were good, the kitchen facilities spotless and... read more - 22 Apr 2019Emma Groves
We had the absolute pleasure of running our first official retreat at Ty Mam Mawr and what an experience it was! Shayne and Nathan, who own this beautiful space, are the most helpful and gracious owners. From start to finish they assisted us wherever we needed, from frequent phone calls on the lead up to the retreat, to providing recipes and even cooking our whole group a delicious meal on the last night x Shayne and Nathan what you have created together is absolutely awe inspiring and I cannot recommend this place enough to others. We had a fantastic stay in the yurt, and can’t wait to return! Stunning, peaceful location on the edge of the forest, with waterfalls and hiking paths on your doorstep. The facilities are outstanding: a very well-equipped kitchen, delightful hot shower, wifi, and fire pits. Shayne was a warm host, giving us plenty of local advice. Thank you! - 26 Aug 2019
Such a fantastic place to stay, right in the middle of the countryside. An hour to Snowdon an hour to the coast... brilliant. The fire in the yurt kept the room toastie, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook a Christmas roast and the shower had lovely hot water. Highly recommend! - 28 Dec 2019Bradley
From the get-go Nathan and Shayne where fantastic. Any questions you have leading up to to your check-inn date are responded quickly, Including local knowledge of information about any activities you've got planned in the area. The quick 10 minute introduction about the facilities was good, we even asked several questions about how the off-grid system they have works. The Yurt itself was incredible and very clean. The amenities on-site where also great and clean. Our group spent the day climbing Snowden and was lovely to come back to a shower (which uses straight off the mountain water) and have... read more - 21 Jul 2019

Ty Mam Mawr is a perfect haven, set in stunning land scape nestled in a valley. I recently attended a Bioenergetics shaking retreat there; Shayne and Nathan made perfect hosts for a weekend where we all mucked in together; super relaxed and easy to get along with, over seeing us and also pointing us in the right direction for walks and wild swims in rivers and reservoirs. The round house, made out of natural materials made a wonderful place for meditations and inner reflection work. I'm already looking forward to the next weekend planned in November.....hope to see you there! - 06 Sep 2017Emily
Met with a very warm welcome into a beautiful location, we were given a mini tour and had a little explanation of how all the amenities needed were supplied off grid. Impeccably clean!! Such and well throughout place, having the feeling of being outside of the night but with all the homely comforts!
We will be back again!
Thank you! - 20 Sep 2019
Shayne and Nathan’s yurt is absolutely beautiful. The decor is very attractive and colourful and the yurt feels so cosy with the log burning stove on. The scenery surrounding the yurt is absolutely stunning and there are also interesting and picturesque towns to visit nearby. The cooking, bathroom and shower facilities were beyond anything we expected and made the stay practical and easy. We would highly recommend staying here. - 24 Sep 2019
The Yurt was authentic, spacious and really cosy. The surrounding forest and berywn mountains are beautiful and great for walking. Large well equipped kitchen, perfect for cooking big meals. Shanye and Nathan were really great hosts willing to help out and give advice whenever needed. We also had a great evening with them in there round house - 01 Jan 2018Julie Lines
What an idyllic, special place Ty Mam Mawr is! The perfect place to retreat, to unwind and reconnect with nature and the land. Shayne and Nathan are the most hospitable, generous and authentic people I know and pour their love into everything they offer here. The yurts, cabins and roundhouse are stunning and so relaxing. You are truly in the heart of Welsh nature and it is so good for the soul! Highly recommend. Thank you for creating this amazing off grid eco retreat haven Shayne and Nathan. XXX - 09 May 2018
This is a wonderful place to experience. We have wanted to come here for nearly two year and we finally managed to book a weekend away for our anniversary. It was everything we needed and more ! The views and surroundings are magical. Listening to the birds all day was soothing. The sunsets were great. We went here to celebrate our anniversary and it was a weekend we will have in our memory for a long time. The yurt had so many hippy vibes which was great ! This is definitely a place to get some tranquilty and stillness. We... read more - 22 Mar 2020Lindsay
Had an amazing time, yurt was beautiful and in a gorgeous location. Kitchen and bathroom facilities we’re spot on and very clean. Nathan and Shayne were just a message away if we needed anything.
Had lots of fun playing fetch with the owner’s dogs. Lots of hiking routes around the area. Perfect to get away from it all for a few days. Would recommend to anyone wanting a bit of piece and quiet in the countryside. Will definitely be booking again :) - 02 Apr 2019
One of the rare places you stumble across on Airbnb, get super excited about, and it lives up to and even surpasses expectations! A beautiful place in a magical location!!
Nathan and Shayne were both lovely, welcoming and attentive hosts, we had everything we needed and our stay was not only a breeze but also very relaxing and chilled!!
I could easily return time and time again! And hopefully will!
Thanks a bunch and see you soon - 21 Oct 2018Lynn-Amanda Brown
This is such a beautiful place, created with love and held by Shayne and Nathan. I felt so warmly welcomed and also inspired by their whole vision of living in harmony with nature, using only natural, sustainable resources... They prove what can be achieved...a wonderful place to be. - 09 May 2018Theo
Really friendly hosts and very helpful if needed but very relaxed and leave you to it otherwise. The yurts are really beautiful, as is the setting. The kitchen is well stocked with kitchenware to cook good meals for large groups. We bought logs from Nathan and made fires in the pits in the evenings. Has the amenities and comforts of a chalet stay but still feels like you’re camping in the wild! Great stay! - 11 Aug 2019
Most relaxing break ever, we will be back. Shared kitchen is excellent and shower/toilet spotless.
Loved the yurt, warm, cosy and comfy on the frosty cold first night.
Lucky to get a sunny Saturday in Wales and I just wanted to sit and swing in the hammock chair :)
Fell in love with the chucks too! I felt right at home in this beautiful spot. The outdoor spaces are excellent.
Lovely host nathan made us feel most welcome - 07 Apr 2019Claire
We were blessed to have had a Heavenly stay in this sanctuary of sorts that was so lovingly dreamed into being by the wonderful Nathan and Shayne. Peacefully surrounded by beautiful nature whilst sleeping in a magical yurt knowing that it’s in an ecologically minded way is truly a gift! We are so thankful to the both of them and from the heart recommend a stay here. - 28 Jun 2018
Cosy yurt in the middle of the wilderness. As in the description, it's in the lap of nature! Lovely location, and Shayne and Nathan are wonderful warm and helpful hosts. They live off the grid, producing their own electricity and water. Some nice walks to do around the area, and lots of stars to see at night! - 28 Jun 2018Ruth
The yurt is warm and cosy, set within beautiful countryside and we had some great walks. Nathan was a friendly and accommodating host and we enjoyed meeting him. Kitchen amenities had everything you need and the other facilities were excellent too. We will certainly be visiting again. - 08 Sep 2019Jack
The yurt was amazing! the beds inside are very confertable and having a log burner inside made it parricularly cosy! It was also a lot of fun having a fire pit and bbq outside to which you can use at your leisure! The area is beautiful and very tranquil, totally off the grid you can really relax. Nathan and Shane let us bring our dog with us and she loved it to! A very accommodating couple and a wonderful experience! - 15 Jul 2018
If you are looking for something a bit different then the Yurt is great. Warm, cosy and good for stargazing in the evenings. Make sure you put the full address in as only the postcode takes you to a dead end at the end of the road. Nathan met us to check in and show us around, he was helpful and recommended a few local places to find food. The Yurt gets very toasty andalthough the supplied wood only lasted one night, the DIY shop in Corwen sells wood and kindling quite cheap so it wasn't an issue. The... read more - 28 Mar 2019

I just held a breathwork and shamanic healing retreat at Ty Mam Mawr and it was a beautiful experience beginning to end.
This review almost feels like I'm cheating writing a good review for two extremely good friends, that's how well we were welcomed and the depth of our connection to Shayne and Nathan over the course of the weekend.
The location is absolutely gorgeous. The yurts are really cool and cosy. The round house is an energetic bubble with the vibe of a really sacred space.

The yurt was a wonderful place to relax and completely escape city life for 2 nights. We could have stayed a lot longer! It was so cosy and warm with the log burner despite it being chilly outside and the kitchen and bathroom facilities were fantastic. Nathan and Shayne were very helpful and explained everything clearly when we arrived, offering us more wood after our first night too. Thanks for a lovely stay! - 15 Dec 2019
It was beautiful. Brought us back to nature. Saw the pheasants. Fed the chickens. Freedom to potter around the area. We watched the sunset lying in the hammock by the outdoor fire. Nathan was cheery and helpful and made us feel at home. The yurt was cosy with little stove. Great facilities - shower, kitchen. We had great experience. - 24 Jun 2018Hollie
Me and my partner had the most amazing experience at Shayne and Nathan’s yurt! It was a peaceful and relaxing break for us both. The yurt is beautiful and in the most gorgeous location! Shayne and Nathan were incredible and made us feel at home. We couldn’t recommend them and the yurt more! We didn’t want to come home! If you want a relaxing break in the Welsh mountains with kind and caring hosts then this is your place! You even have chickens to hang out with! :) - 26 Jul 2019
