Spaces & Accommodation
Centred around a magnificent modern straw bale roundhouse, accommodation is provided in two gorgeous yurts. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the log cabin with a small dining area plus a shower room/toilet and another smaller log cabin kitchenette with a compost loo and shower.
The roundhouse will very comfortably seat 20-25 people or to look at it another way, there's space for 8-10 yogis. Up to 6 guests can sleep in the roundhouse, whilst the yurts will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests between them.
Seats and fire bowls next to each yurt and a main central firepit near the roundhouse provide further communal spaces. The roundhouse and yurts are heated with wood burning stoves.
We may be 'off grid', but in terms of facilities you wouldn't know it! Plenty of hot water, a power shower, electricity in all the spaces and WiFi if required.View Spaces and Accommodation

What an idyllic, special place Ty Mam Mawr is! The perfect place to retreat, to unwind and reconnect with nature and the land. Shayne and Nathan are the most hospitable, generous and authentic people I know and pour their love into everything they offer here. The yurts, cabins and roundhouse are stunning and so relaxing. You are truly in the heart of Welsh nature and it is so good for the soul! Highly recommend. Thank you for creating this amazing off grid eco retreat haven Shayne and Nathan. XXX - 09 May 2018Hollie
Me and my partner had the most amazing experience at Shayne and Nathan’s yurt! It was a peaceful and relaxing break for us both. The yurt is beautiful and in the most gorgeous location! Shayne and Nathan were incredible and made us feel at home. We couldn’t recommend them and the yurt more! We didn’t want to come home! If you want a relaxing break in the Welsh mountains with kind and caring hosts then this is your place! You even have chickens to hang out with! :) - 26 Jul 2019
Gorgeous yurt and space. All very chilled and bed was so comfy. Wonderful waking up to the Berwyn forest and happily swinging in the hammock!! The small log burner off so much heat- which was lovely and would be so cosy in winter. Shayne and Nathan were very friendly and the chickens and dogs were a lovely addition! - 22 Jul 2018David
Just back from my wonderful week away solo stay in Shayne & Nathan's yurt. Secluded enough to feel cut off from it all but with all the amenities you could possibly need for a longer stay, it's nestled in a stunning location with plenty of excellent walks on your doorstep. The yurt itself was sizeable, homely and it didn't take long for me to settle in. Shayne & Nathan were brilliant hosts, full of helpful tips and always on-hand to keep the wood burner stocked - their dog Ruby even showed me around the Cynwyd Forest trails! I'll definitely be... read more - 15 Mar 2019
We spent a great night in Nathan and Shayne's yurt. It was lovely and cosy with the woodburner on and there was plenty room for 5 of us.
It is in a great setting, the kids loved playing with Ruby the dog and we had a lovely walk in the forest before leaving.
Would love to visit again. - 03 Apr 2018Lisa
We had a wonderful weekend away is this fabulous yurt. The location is perfect and simply peaceful. Nathan was a brilliant host. Excellent communication and the yurt was exactly as advertised. The log fire ensured we were cosy at night. Sitting out on the deck in the evening is just tranquil; the stars are so bright. We did lots of walking around the local area. Thanks for the tips and the use of your map. We will certainly recommend to friends and will be back ourselves sometime soon. Thanks for a fabulous weekend break. Staying here exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect secluded haven for a much needed nurturing time. Immersed in nature in a stunning clean yurt, adjacent to a super well equipped cabin. We had all the facilities needed for a short break. Clean air in superb settings, no light pollution enabled nights to be filled with clear views of star filled evenings. We didn't need to go anywhere as the walks on our doorstep gave us ample opportunity to explore the stunning beauty of this location. Cosy yurt in the middle of the wilderness. As in the description, it's in the lap of nature! Lovely location, and Shayne and Nathan are wonderful warm and helpful hosts. They live off the grid, producing their own electricity and water. Some nice walks to do around the area, and lots of stars to see at night! - 28 Jun 2018
The Yurt was authentic, spacious and really cosy. The surrounding forest and berywn mountains are beautiful and great for walking. Large well equipped kitchen, perfect for cooking big meals. Shanye and Nathan were really great hosts willing to help out and give advice whenever needed. We also had a great evening with them in there round house - 01 Jan 2018Edward
This is the second time we stayed here and, just as expected, we had a fantastic time. Our daily adventures in the local forests ended with a hearty BBQ in the idyllic setting, then a cosy fire in the gorgeous yurt. Perfect!! Shayne and Nathan are breath of fresh air - down to earth, friendly and extremely helpful. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you! - 17 Jul 2020Moyra
We had a lovely stay, the yurt was gorgeous and very cosy. The deck outside was fantastic to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. Lovely location, so peaceful and I loved all the fruit trees, statues etc and the general ambiance was wonderful. Very welcome hot showers after our walk in the hills, and the kitchen was a nice space to sit and enjoy our breakfast. Thanks so much! - 30 Sep 2018

I just held a breathwork and shamanic healing retreat at Ty Mam Mawr and it was a beautiful experience beginning to end. This review almost seems like I'm cheating writing a good review for two extremely good friends, that's how well we were welcomed and the depth of our connection to Shayne and Nathan. The location is absolutely gorgeous. The yurts are really cool and cosy. The round house is an energetic bubble with the vibe of a really sacred space.

We loved everything about our stay: the yurt was magical, the location peaceful and Nathan was lovely and very helpful throughout. Waking up every day to pheasants and chickens running around was a highlight! We came back refreshed from a fantastic few days in nature despite having more rainy weather than we’d expected. - 05 Mar 2019
We recently stayed for four nights with our 7 month old daughter and had a truly fantastic time. So nice to get away from everything and try something a little bit different.
Plenty to do in the local area including some lovely river/ forest walks right on your doorstep. We spent an entire day just chilling in the yurt/ garden area and our little one clearly loved it. The yurt and surrounding grounds were a sensory haven for her with so many colours, lights, sounds etc... she got particularly excited when a chicken wandered into the yurt!

We had a lovely stay Shayne and Nathan’s Yurt! Even in October when it was wet and windy we could not have been warmer by the log fire!
There are plenty of amenities to make your stay comfortable, like a hot shower, and a stove/sink area right outside your door, along with the dedicated kitchen area.
There are beautiful views, lots of wildlife to see (and hear), and lovely areas of woodland to explore.
There are a bunch of great places to visit such as local NT properties, the steam engine that goes through Corwen, and cafes and pubs. Just make sure... read more - 17 Oct 2019
Shayne and Nathan were excellent hosts. They kept in constant communication before our trip and were very understanding when our plans had to change by a day. The yurt was cosy and unique and the surrounding landscape was fantastic to take-in in the morning with a cup of coffee! Nathan gave us plenty of sight-seeing recommendations in the area, but unfortunately, we were not there long enough to really explore. Will definitely be staying here again! - 23 Mar 2018Sinead
What a wonderful place! When we arrived in Cynwyd we were struggling with baggage and so Nathan very kindly offered to pick us up and take us to the yurts. It was a nice drive up to the yurts and we were greeted with the freshest air I’ve ever tasted.. Nathan showed us around the place and explained everything perfectly, we had nothing to really ask him (other than when we realised we don’t really know how fires work). We stayed in the smaller yurt and it was perfect for the two of us, it heated up really quickly and... read more - 20 Dec 2019
Shayne and Nathan’s Airbnb is even better than we could’ve imagined - the photos really don’t do it justice. The hosts are lovely, down to earth and are there to help whether it’s to turn the oven on or suggest a place for lunch.
The location alone is incredible - somewhere that feels like the middle of nowhere whilst only being 5 minutes from the main road. Words can’t describe how incredible this place is. - 22 Sep 2019
Absolutely brilliant stay in the most beautiful surroundings. Been to Wales many years ago and had forgotten what a wonderfully amazing part of the world Wales is. So green, full of valleys. Loveeeeeedddddd the yurt, the location, amenities (you thought of everything), the marshmallows around the fire watching the sunset. gorgeous walks on your doorstep. You made us feel so welcome and comfortable. We will be booking to come again with family and also with girlfriends. So wonderful to be reminded of the importance of positive well being, self reflection and connection to nature. We both hit the pause button... read more - 12 Oct 2017Lucy
What a special place this is! It was in exactly the location we were after for the Welsh leg of our road trip and the idea of a remote yurt certainly did appeal! The yurt was super comfortable and kept us cosy during some heavy rain. The view from the deck when the sun came out was fantastic. Kitchen cabin had everything we needed as well. Shayn & Nathan were great hosts and have created such a great place to stay. Totally recommend for anyone wanting something a little off the beaten track and different! Wow, what a lovely 4 days we have had at this beautiful yurt. Nathan and Shayne are great hosts very warm and friendly with lots of advice on local walks to hand. The yurt it’s self is truly amazing and it has its own little garden area with fire pit/bbq, chairs and table. The perfect place to come back to chill after a nice long walk and toast some marshmallows which went down a treat with our 6 year old son. I really can’t rate this pace enough. Visiting here for a retreat was very nourishing on many levels. The landscape was idyllic and captivating with some beautiful walks in nature nearby (and swims for those that dared!). Shayne and Nathan were excellent hosts who made the stay very comfortable and the roundhouse was a very peaceful and warm place to meditate. The food served was delicious and we ended up staying an extra day as we liked the place so much. Will definitely visit again! - 13 Jun 2018Lauren
Shayne & Nathan are both lovely people, they make you feel right at home! We really enjoyed our stay in their beautiful yurt and they were always there to provide a helping hand. The yurt was provided with a lovely view which required all the essential you need for a cosy weekend off the grid. I can't thank them enough for their kindness and for making our stay that extra special. I will most definitely be booking another weekend soon and I recommend to anyone :) - 02 Apr 2018
