Spaces & Accommodation
Centred around a magnificent modern straw bale roundhouse, accommodation is provided in two gorgeous yurts. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the log cabin with a small dining area plus a shower room/toilet and another smaller log cabin kitchenette with a compost loo and shower.
The roundhouse will very comfortably seat 20-25 people or to look at it another way, there's space for 8-10 yogis. Up to 6 guests can sleep in the roundhouse, whilst the yurts will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests between them.
Seats and fire bowls next to each yurt and a main central firepit near the roundhouse provide further communal spaces. The roundhouse and yurts are heated with wood burning stoves.
We may be 'off grid', but in terms of facilities you wouldn't know it! Plenty of hot water, a power shower, electricity in all the spaces and WiFi if required.View Spaces and Accommodation

Had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful retreat recently. I can't recommend it highly enough. Ran by the most welcoming and friendly hosts, the retreat has everything you could wish for. Cosy yurts with log burning stoves, a well stocked Kitchen with everything you could possibly need, a roundhouse that's perfect for hosting a meditation or yoga class and miles upon miles of rolling hills and woodland walks. It's completely off the grid too. Perfect. - 30 Jun 2019
We had an amazing 3 night stay in Nathan and Shayne’s yurt! Nathan gave us a warm welcome and tour on our arrival. We were blown away by the scenery surrounding the yurt and how self sufficient everything was. We’ve stayed in a few yurts before, but found this one really had all the amenities spot on! The kitchen, shower and toilet are on your door step, the fire pit and bbq are in a nice private area (also right beside the yurt) and the main log cabin has practically everything you can think of kitchen wise. We had plenty... read more - 28 Sep 2019
It was our first experience of a Yurt and my sons were thrilled when we were shown around by our host.
The facilities available were also fantastic with a large communal kitchen which was well stocked with kitchen equipment and the cleanest oven I think I’ve ever seen.
Our Yurt also had access to a private toilet, shower and small kitchen area which was perfect for grabbing a coffee before you are able to face anyone.
The yurt and area around the yurt feels very secluded and we only briefly saw the others staying in the other yurt once.

The yurt is cosy with speakers for an iPod, electricity, a really efficient stove and two very comfortable beds. The bathroom is the piece de resistance- hot, fast, efficient shower with different settings for getting a top to toe clean! Also, a very well stocked clean kitchen and all with a fantastic view and plenty of parking. Lovely. I feel rejuvenated! - 09 Dec 2018
We had the absolute pleasure of running our first official retreat at Ty Mam Mawr and what an experience it was! Shayne and Nathan, who own this beautiful space, are the most helpful and gracious owners. From start to finish they assisted us wherever we needed, from frequent phone calls on the lead up to the retreat, to providing recipes and even cooking our whole group a delicious meal on the last night x Shayne and Nathan what you have created together is absolutely awe inspiring and I cannot recommend this place enough to others. There are many original and quirky places to stay on AirBnB, but I really don't think you would find anywhere better than this. The yurt and amenities are excellent and both Shayne and Nathan are truly fabulous hosts... you will instantly feel welcome and they really feel like you have become part of their lifestyle for the duration of the stay (and you get to meet their gorgeous dogs, cats and chickens!).
The views are incredible and the local area is wonderful to explore, and if you are willing to travel slightly further afield there are some great sights to see... read more - 26 Aug 2019
Had an amazing time, yurt was beautiful and in a gorgeous location. Kitchen and bathroom facilities we’re spot on and very clean. Nathan and Shayne were just a message away if we needed anything.
Had lots of fun playing fetch with the owner’s dogs. Lots of hiking routes around the area. Perfect to get away from it all for a few days. Would recommend to anyone wanting a bit of piece and quiet in the countryside. Will definitely be booking again :) - 02 Apr 2019Nathan

What a fabulous place to stay. Exactly as advertised: a warm and cosy yurt! We couldn’t have asked for more. The log burning stove in the yurt was more than enough to keep us toasty warm at night. The location is in a stunning part of Wales with beautiful views to observe and explore. The facilities extremely clean and well-kept whilst being environmentally friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend to others. Thank you for being so accommodating Nathan! - 16 Apr 2019

Great location and the Yurt is really cool. Shayne and Nathan were really helpful and facilitated a late check in for us travelling up from Guildford.
Everything you need is here and it is a great base to explore from to places like Llangollen and Betsy.
Thanks for your hospitality. - 04 Aug 2019

I had the most incredible stay at Ty Mam Mawr - Shayne and Nathan were such warm and generous hosts. A group of us booked out the site for a meditation retreat and it was the perfect setting to allow for such work to take place. Gorgeous scenery, beautiful, cosy yurts to stay in, a nearby waterfall that we walked down to and swam in! Adorable friendly pets - dogs and chickens! - that roamed around, sweetly interacting with us. And the site is clearly a labour of love - these stunning, eco-friendly structures. Oh and I mustn't forget Shayne's... read more - 26 Jun 2019
We have been glamping at various places over the year & this trip blew us away. The yurt & the land are really magical , everything was perfect , the kitchen was great for cooking in & shower was lovely. We really enjoyed chilling out in the yurt playing bord games , going for walks in the forest & ventured to Bala to go to the micro brewery.Nathan is a wonderful host , he made my birthday weekend & nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend going here , we can’t wait to return. Thanks so much xx - 14 Jan 2019Laura
Perfect style for a glamping stay and the kitchen and bathroom area are well- stocked, warm, and perfect for making creature comforts such as cold wine in the evening and a hot cuppa in the morning possible! Location is great; up a narrow track but keep your foot on the gas and you'll get there in the end! Worth it for the stunning location. Memorable stay, thanks x - 06 May 2019
Lovely weekend stay, location was brilliant, amazing star gazing if you get a clear night! A truly special experience, from driving up the single way track entrance, you feel the city stress drift away! Wildlife all around and the sound of the stream was so relaxing. The yurt itself was perfect so well maintained and cosy with the log burner. Kitchen facility was good with everything you need. Hosts were welcoming, informative on the area and very friendly. Would highly recommend a stay here! - 11 Oct 2020David
Just back from my wonderful week away solo stay in Shayne & Nathan's yurt. Secluded enough to feel cut off from it all but with all the amenities you could possibly need for a longer stay, it's nestled in a stunning location with plenty of excellent walks on your doorstep. The yurt itself was sizeable, homely and it didn't take long for me to settle in. Shayne & Nathan were brilliant hosts, full of helpful tips and always on-hand to keep the wood burner stocked - their dog Ruby even showed me around the Cynwyd Forest trails! I'll definitely be... read more - 15 Mar 2019
Shayne & Nathan are both lovely people, they make you feel right at home! We really enjoyed our stay in their beautiful yurt and they were always there to provide a helping hand. The yurt was provided with a lovely view which required all the essential you need for a cosy weekend off the grid. I can't thank them enough for their kindness and for making our stay that extra special. I will most definitely be booking another weekend soon and I recommend to anyone :) - 02 Apr 2018Clare
Our third trip staying at shayne a and Nathan's and we absolutely love it, and wish we could live there. The hosts are really friendly and lovely people to be around, we ran out of wood, so nathan happily came and chopped some for us. The yurts are so comfortable, and the facilities are great for any weather. Hope to stay again soon. - 27 May 2019
