Spaces & Accommodation
Centred around a magnificent modern straw bale roundhouse, accommodation is provided in two gorgeous yurts. There's a fully equipped kitchen in the log cabin with a small dining area plus a shower room/toilet and another smaller log cabin kitchenette with a compost loo and shower.
The roundhouse will very comfortably seat 20-25 people or to look at it another way, there's space for 8-10 yogis. Up to 6 guests can sleep in the roundhouse, whilst the yurts will accommodate a maximum of 12 guests between them.
Seats and fire bowls next to each yurt and a main central firepit near the roundhouse provide further communal spaces. The roundhouse and yurts are heated with wood burning stoves.
We may be 'off grid', but in terms of facilities you wouldn't know it! Plenty of hot water, a power shower, electricity in all the spaces and WiFi if required.View Spaces and Accommodation

I highly recommend this unique trip! The yurt is incredibly comfortable and charming and the surrounding countryside is magnificent! Shayne and Nathan were very welcoming and helpful, it was a pleasure to meet them and experience some ‘off grid’ living! We will definitely be coming back! - 02 Sep 2018Dione
The yurt is a fun and unique way to spend the night camping. Shayne and Nathan offer all the amenities you need when camping and the yurt is situated in a tranquil area where you can sit under the stars by the fire pit or relax in the comfort of the yurt. We hope to visit again with our kids. - 01 Jun 2018Leeanne
Absolutely stunning location and a beautiful yurt.
Nathan made us very welcome, while also giving us all the privacy we needed for a romantic trip away. All amenities were provided and the use of the log burning stove was explained to us; luckily because we didn’t have a clue! It turns out it was very simple to use and it made the yurt incredibly toasty on a chilly night.
The yurt, the kitchen area and the bathroom were spotless and the bed was ridiculously comfy. Plus there was an adorable chicken called Esmeralda!

We had the absolute pleasure of running our first official retreat at Ty Mam Mawr and what an experience it was! Shayne and Nathan, who own this beautiful space, are the most helpful and gracious owners. From start to finish they assisted us wherever we needed, from frequent phone calls on the lead up to the retreat, to providing recipes and even cooking our whole group a delicious meal on the last night x Shayne and Nathan what you have created together is absolutely awe inspiring and I cannot recommend this place enough to others. We had a wonderful weekend away is this fabulous yurt. The location is perfect and simply peaceful. Nathan was a brilliant host. Excellent communication and the yurt was exactly as advertised. The log fire ensured we were cosy at night. Sitting out on the deck in the evening is just tranquil; the stars are so bright. We did lots of walking around the local area. Thanks for the tips and the use of your map. We will certainly recommend to friends and will be back ourselves sometime soon. Thanks for a fabulous weekend break. We had a wonderful relaxing getaway here. The yurt is a beautiful space, romantic, comfortable and cosy. It's very quiet and the stars were amazing! We enjoyed walking in the Berwyn mountains and swimming/kayaking on Lake Bala.
Nathan was very welcoming and helpful, telling us about local walks and lending us a map.
The kitchen is well equipped and it's handy having a private loo right next to the yurt. I loved it here and wished we were staying longer. - 05 Sep 2018
Highly recommended location for a true peaceful ‘off the grid’ experience. Mother Earth is respected here. Nathan and Shayne are exceptionally welcoming and available with lots of local knowledge. The Yurts are exactly what you see in the photos. On site car parking. The kitchen and bathroom are fully equipped. Tilly and Ruby (host dogs) are very friendly and playful. We were very fortunate to have had truly stunning warm weather for February which provided fantastic sun rise and sun sets... we made use of the hammock on the decking and enjoyed breakfast in the morning sun. Me and my partner had the most amazing experience at Shayne and Nathan’s yurt! It was a peaceful and relaxing break for us both. The yurt is beautiful and in the most gorgeous location! Shayne and Nathan were incredible and made us feel at home. We couldn’t recommend them and the yurt more! We didn’t want to come home! If you want a relaxing break in the Welsh mountains with kind and caring hosts then this is your place! You even have chickens to hang out with! :) - 26 Jul 2019
Cosy yurt in the middle of the wilderness. As in the description, it's in the lap of nature! Lovely location, and Shayne and Nathan are wonderful warm and helpful hosts. They live off the grid, producing their own electricity and water. Some nice walks to do around the area, and lots of stars to see at night! - 28 Jun 2018
It's a set in a beautiful area of Wales, remote but not too far away from key places to visit. Feels like you are away from it all there. Weather was bad during our stay, but still got to see thousands of stars one night. The big yurt can hold more people too, so great for a big family, and very cosy with the fire going x - 28 Aug 2020Anson
We had a lovely time staying in the yurt. The lighting and the decor make it a very relaxing place to be. The wood stove was perfect for keeping it nice and warm and Nathan had plenty of logs and firestarters available throughout our stay. Both the yurt and the wood cabin were clean and we had no complaints with anything. Nathan is very genuine and hospitable, which helped to make our stay in Wales even better. We would definetly recommend staying here if you're looking somewhere quiet, beautiful and a bit different than your run of the mill hotel. - 22 Dec 2017Ellie
After reading all the amazing review's on Nathan and Shaynes place we were super excited for our little break away, all expectations were met and exceeded. A beautiful space and such welcoming friendly hosts, you will not be disappointed. The yurt was cosy, clean and exactly as decipted on the photographs we viewed beforehand. There is a well equipped kitchen and fitted bathroom, though we did all our cooking on an open fire under the stars- absolute bliss. Llangollen is a beautiful town just 20 minutes drive away, we would recommend there for a day out! Though the ground and... read more - 15 Feb 2019
Hidden up the valley on the edge of a forest it is not the easiest to find but what a treasure awaits when you get there.
An instant peace comes over you as you park up behind your yurt, before being wowed by the fairylights and wood burning stove to greet you in the cosy bed space. Even in icy temperatures the yurt holds its heat and with only the stream nearby you’re easily lulled off to sleep.
To be clear this does not feel like a camping trip, the communal shower and bathroom are clean and warm. Attached to a large... read more - 28 Oct 2018
Upon arrival, we were greeted with the warmest of welcomes from Shayne and the two dogs. We were shown around the place and made to feel at home instantly. The location is beautiful and the place is a 10/10 and we would highly reccomened this place for all ages, who enjoy the outdoors and an area of outstanding natural scenery. Inside the Yurt is incredible and the small log burner keeps the place warm throughout the night along with a very comfy memory foam mattress! We were two familes of four that booked the two Yurts for a 3 night stay over the new year period, and we enjoyed every second of it! What an absolutly fanstastic place to stay. The House manual is very thorough but all common sensse, as seasoned campers weren't put off. There are a few things to think about as the site is completley off grid, but all things that are considerate to conserve enery and the environment.

One of the rare places you stumble across on Airbnb, get super excited about, and it lives up to and even surpasses expectations! A beautiful place in a magical location!!
Nathan and Shayne were both lovely, welcoming and attentive hosts, we had everything we needed and our stay was not only a breeze but also very relaxing and chilled!!
I could easily return time and time again! And hopefully will!
Thanks a bunch and see you soon - 21 Oct 2018Clare
Lovely weekend stay, location was brilliant, amazing star gazing if you get a clear night! A truly special experience, from driving up the single way track entrance, you feel the city stress drift away! Wildlife all around and the sound of the stream was so relaxing. The yurt itself was perfect so well maintained and cosy with the log burner. Kitchen facility was good with everything you need. Hosts were welcoming, informative on the area and very friendly. Would highly recommend a stay here! - 11 Oct 2020
I just held a breathwork and shamanic healing retreat at Ty Mam Mawr and it was a beautiful experience beginning to end.
This review almost feels like I'm cheating writing a good review for two extremely good friends, that's how well we were welcomed and the depth of our connection to Shayne and Nathan over the course of the weekend.
The location is absolutely gorgeous. The yurts are really cool and cosy. The round house is an energetic bubble with the vibe of a really sacred space.

Nathan and Shayne were such lovely hosts, we had a very peaceful and relaxing holiday in Cynwyd. We stayed for a week with our new baby and dog and we had everything we needed right on our doorstep. Stunning views, lovely walks and a gorgeous yurt to return to for cosy evenings and rainy days. Shayne and Nathan couldn’t have been more hospitable and the kitchenette was well stocked with everything we needed. We would love to go back one day, it was the perfect holiday for our new family. - 07 Sep 2020
An absolutely wonderful stay. Hosts were fabulous, friendly with loads of local knowledge and were willing to help us with everything. The location is great. Very secluded, peaceful, with loads of walks through dense forests and rivers. The yurt itself was SPECTACULAR with great attention to detail, 10/10 cleanliness and facilities. What an experience! Will 100% be visiting again. Thank you! - 05 Oct 2020Christine
We spent a great night in Nathan and Shayne's yurt. It was lovely and cosy with the woodburner on and there was plenty room for 5 of us.
It is in a great setting, the kids loved playing with Ruby the dog and we had a lovely walk in the forest before leaving.
Would love to visit again. - 03 Apr 2018Jessica
This was our first experience staying in a yurt and it was amazing! The Yurt was absolutely stunning, with a beautifully decorated interior, cozy wood burner and lots of quirky cushions and dream catchers.
The location was also very beautiful. We felt very close to nature and loved walking around the grounds. It was snowing during our stay so seemed even more magical! Rich, who was looking after the place, asked if we wanted to stay a bit longer to avoid driving in the snow. Unfortunately we couldn’t but it was a very kind offer!

Just back from a fabulous three day break in the Welsh mountains at one of the most unique airbnb properties we have ever stayed in.
The location was excellent, being conveniently placed to access most of North Wales abd the yurt was everything that we expected, and yes, while we were in fact living off the grid, Shayne and Nathan made sure that the whole experience was extremely comfortable with plenty of hot showers and great kitchen facilities (and even wifi if you just have to keep in touch with the outside world but much better to leave technology... read more - 24 Feb 2019Andrea
This place is just gorgeous, despite the weather we had an amazing time, the yurts are so warm with the log burner going so you don't get cold and the sound of the rain when you're all cosy and warm inside is so relaxing they have all amenities needed, the shower was lovely and hot, the kitchen was well kitted out with everything you need, worth noting they don't have a microwave but we didn't need one anyway so all good for us.

The yurt is cosy with speakers for an iPod, electricity, a really efficient stove and two very comfortable beds. The bathroom is the piece de resistance- hot, fast, efficient shower with different settings for getting a top to toe clean! Also, a very well stocked clean kitchen and all with a fantastic view and plenty of parking. Lovely. I feel rejuvenated! - 09 Dec 2018
The yurts are so lovely, they are decorated beautifully with everything you need close by. The hosts are very welcoming and happy to help with anything you need. They are a pleasure to stay in with relaxing surroundings and i look forward to going again in the future! Amazing place and a credit to the hosts!! - 12 Jul 2019Lucy
What a special place this is! It was in exactly the location we were after for the Welsh leg of our road trip and the idea of a remote yurt certainly did appeal! The yurt was super comfortable and kept us cosy during some heavy rain. The view from the deck when the sun came out was fantastic. Kitchen cabin had everything we needed as well. Shayn & Nathan were great hosts and have created such a great place to stay. Totally recommend for anyone wanting something a little off the beaten track and different!
